This is a hotel with a gorgeous view and with staff that are first class. I stayed here before, when it was a proper Pousada but losing that status has not lowered its standards. The restaurant staff were excellent, the food was OK

We arrived late at night, the keys were waiting in the box and we opened with a code we received from the host

The design is young, light and inspires a feeling of vacation and cleanliness
The kitchen was equipped with all the necessary appliances

It's a great base from which to see the surrounding area - Beira Baixa and Serra da Estrela. The village itself has some interesting sights, but we thought there are more beautiful places to visit (like Sortelha). There was hardly any tourism.

The staff was wonderful.
The staff was wonderful. The restaurant was lovely, with very interesting menu choices, like partridge, and mushroom ice cream ( which was fabulous au natural, but didn’t like it when dressed with the sauces). Overall, the food was excellent, but also, a bit salty for me.
The breakfast could have been better, some dark rolls, and eggs would be nice. The coffee machine coffee burned my stomach, but I didn’t realize it until the 4th day! I thought there was something wrong with me until I left and my stomach got better. Then I realized it was the coffee!
Also, it was easy to drive to other great villages, like Monsanto and Sortelha.

We particularly enjoyed visiting the Jewish museum and Synagogue. We found the accommodation ideal as we were able to leave our dog there whilst we visited the museums. We enjoyed dinner in the local restaurant a few minutes away from the property.
Very friendly and helpful hosts, a beatiful location with nice views, the room was exactly as was described. The room has a double bed, a toilet with a shower, a small storage room with a fridge, coffee machine, kettle. Some orange juice, fresh bread, jam and grape liqueur, a small table in the room and a small table on the patio were all a nice touch, and we felt very welcome and well looked after. The property is a short drive away from the historic centre of Belmonte. We would happily go back again.
The hosts are so friendly and welcoming, it is like being a valued guest in a Portuguese home. The room has a very large and comfortable bed which was perfect for a good night's sleep. We found the room well equipped with facilities for making a drink and rolls, butter and orange juice ready for breakfast. Our dog was made to feel very welcome and the garden was fenced and secure. In the countryside just outside Belmonte and only minutes from the A23 motorway.
We loved our stay in The Vagar.
The warmth welcome of the owner Marta, Vera and the girls.
Their attention to every detail made us feel very at home.
We cannot describe in words how beautiful this country house is. How wonderful the people running it, is.
This hotel / CountryHouse has only six rooms. The decoration is modern warmth. Simple yet very tasteful.
The views from the surrounding valleys are wonderful.
This converted monastery has some wonderful original features on the side of a hillside with a fabulous view over the valley. A perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset.
The staff were very friendly and the food (dinner and breakfast) were good.
There's a lovely pool to cool off and relax at during the hot summer afternoons.
Overall it's a beautiful, peaceful spot to take a rest.
A very nice and comfortable hotel with plenty of free public parking right at the hotel entrance. Excellent place to stay for those who are planning to explore Serra da Estrela, or just to explore Belmonte. We had been upgraded free of charge to a suite. The staff is very friendly and helpful, speaking good English. Good breakfast served personally. Good restaurant for the evening meal.
Apart from the sofa bed, everything else was fantastic. The room was just so lovely and spacious. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. The food in the restaurant was superb. We stayed 2 nights with some friends and we had the most fantastic time. The hotel itself is small, intimate and charming. Belmonte is a lovely location.
It is our second visit and we will definitely return.
With its old-style walls and the fact that it's built right into the sloping terrain, the house perfectly captures the essence of the mountain village Belmonte. Parts of the rock face are still visible inside and become part of the wall decoration. Being a souterrain room it stays cool during the summer and makes for a cozy little cave.
Hotel was spotlessly clean and well maintained. Staff very friendly and helpful. Views over the Serra da Estrela from our balcony and panoramic restaurant did not disappoint. Breakfast included which was buffet style and had a very good selection. Plenty of onsite parking. Enjoyed our reasonably priced evening meal at the hotel.
We were in an amazing place. The view is absolutely spectacular, the pool is great, we were able to many nice pictures.
Rooms are modern and cozy, we had everything we needed. You have a great opportunity to see the sunrise from the bed.
The hostess was as friendly as possible and we enjoyed stay in this place.
Lovely old converted convent with lots of charm. Good sized room with a balcony overlooking the mountains. Big, comfortable bed in the room with a sitting area and desk. Nice bathroom with a big tub. Property has a pool, but we did not use it as the weather was cloudy. Staff were all pleasant and friendly.
The hosts were incredible, always available and very helpful.
We felt at home. It was oranges' time, and we were invited to try some of them from their local trees.
The property was nicely located on the outskirts of Belmonte, and very close to a supermarket.
Casa Miriam is a great place to overnight In Belmonte. Great location, super cleaned and well equipped. Don’t be scare of the church bells, between 22:00-07:00, the bells will be quiet 😂! The check in was super easy and great Wi-Fi service.
