FAQs about hotels in Amsterdam

The Best Culture and Nightlife this Side of a Canal

Jump on your city bike or hop on a canal boat and admire Amsterdam, the Venice of the North! The beautiful city houses, romantic bridges, iconic canals and street cafés create its unique atmosphere and give you an ultimate taste of its fascinating past.

Famous for its museums, most important of which are located in the Museumplein, Amsterdam offers you a chance to see unforgettable masterpieces by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondriaan and more. The Anne Frank House is a sobering reminder of the city’s more recent history. After a lot of walking, the Rijksmuseum is a great place to rest and get some extra culture before visiting Amsterdam’s lovely Vondelpark.

The medieval Old Centre with the always busy Dam Square and the tempting Red Light District is the most visited part of Amsterdam. Make sure to stop at Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein, homes to the best nightlife venues.

Shop till you drop at Amsterdam’s most luxury shopping street, PC Hooftstraat, the most popular street market at Albert Cuyp or in the fancy design shops of the Jordaan district. Famous pancakes and frites with mayonnaise are a must-try! The more adventurous traveller might want to try the pickled herring, followed closely by a local beer.

All these attractions are just a short train ride from the Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Whether you want to stay at a cosy hotel on a canal, a modern apartment in a quiet part of the city or a room in the centre of everything, Booking.com has a perfect accommodation for your Amsterdam vacation.

I find the main streets in the center of Amsterdam crowded...

I find the main streets in the center of Amsterdam crowded and full of unsightly plastic and neon signage that takes away from the beauty of the buildings. There are fine shops, if you look for them, but also a lot of souvenir shops and fast-food chains - and there is a whiff of cannabis everywhere. Exploring the side streets is much nicer than the main drags and gives you the quintessential narrow-houses-along-a-canal experience traditionally associated with Amsterdam. The food is hit and miss - wise to follow recommendations from locals if you have such connections. The cultural life is excellent with fantastic museums and the world-renowned Concertgebauw.

Eveyithing in Amsterdam s great, exept public transport.

Eveyithing in Amsterdam s great, exept public transport. It is very complicated. Entering transport is through one door and leaving through another. If you have suitcases and it's rush hour, you have to start making your way to the exit right after boarding. In addition, system of scanning the cards when both enetring and leaving is a little bit feeble-minded. We had Amsterdam City Card on a mobile phone and it was very poorly scanned. A very pleasant pub for beer tasting: Proeflokaal Arendsnest, Herengracht 90

Amsterdam is a beautiful lived-in city. I loved seeing so many families on their bicycles going about life in the city. It's a vibrant city full of beautiful architecture with lots of cafes and restaurants and of course the draw of the draw of the water in the gorgeous canals.

It is by far one of the most active cities, if the weather is good, its just amazing to walk around the city center. Especially for Muslim Travellers, you can now find, many options in food. I would personally suggest, There is a place called NUDE BURGER by the DAM Square, really good taste. You can pay for tram rides within the trams, and also, get a Tram ticket at the Centraal Station. Get your hotel room nearby the centraal, or the Dam square, it'll benefit you. :)

    Beautiful city with amazing architecture.

Beautiful city with amazing architecture. We got lucky to visit it under the sun. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I recommend Kaap&Tein for dinner and great brunches at Moak Pancakes city centre. We didn't rent bikes a it was easy to walk around the city and the traffic by bike can get a little crazy. The canal cruise was lovely.

Not too far from the city centre, bus stop is beside the hotel and 3 bus stops to Amsterdam Central Station. Pass for transport for 3 days we bought at the reception - very handy. Personal at the reception are very informative and attentive. Rooms are modern and the Hotel itself too. At evening we enjoyed panoramic view of canal from the bar which locates on the 8th floor and spa is fantastic. One more plus of the location - quite area. Definitely would recommend! P. S. Mattresses, pillows are super comfortable! We slept as babies))

The location is 20 minutes from the centre which, for me is an advantage to stay away from the crowd. The bus station is right in front of the hotel so it gives easy access to commute with bus 21 directly to Amsterdam Centraal. We basically found all the necessities around the area without needing to travel to the city centre though. Supermarket - restaurants - pharmacy just about 10 minutes walk. Bed and pillows were good and comfy, but we have no fridge in the room. The staff were quite helpful and friendly 🙂

I was traveling to Amsterdam for the first time and alone. I am a young female so this can be dangerous and I felt very safe at the Avenue hotel! Someone is always watching the external doors and must let you in, elevators are operated using your key and there is a do not disturb (dead bolt) lock. I only stayed three nights but felt like the location was perfect to be close to the city center but not in a loud area. All in all I got what I paid for and the place checked all my boxes.

The building is modern and located close to the metro station. The city centre is just around 20/30min away counting the time to reach the metro and the trip. The hotel is efficient and business oriented but still very confortable if you want to visit Amsterdam expecially if you have a car and don't want to spend too much of parking. They have a convenient underground parking space (22.5€/night) that is cheaper than leaving the car out on the street (4.50€/h from 9-19).

Dont go expecting a 5 star hotel, it is what it is, a decent budget hotel.. The location is great and the rooms are tidy. I go to Amsterdam regularly for cheap break for a night or 2 with a few pals and we generally stay in the budget hotels, this is one of the best budget hotels in the main area. I must say for the price this is excellent value for money. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't take my wife to this hotel but its ideal for a cheap break on a budget.

The hotel was absolutely stunning! The staff were very friendly and always offering to help with anything needed, the travel was for my 21st birthday and I couldn’t have picked a better hotel, when I got to my room there was some gifts left for me from the hotel! 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is going to Amsterdam as it’s in such a good location being basically city centre. Will definitely be picking this hotel when I comeback to Amsterdam.

I especially liked the friendly and helpful staff at the Albus Hotel. They were pleasant and kind. The room I stayed in was spacious and clean. My bed was very comfortable. All I needed was made available. I loved the flatscreen tv on the wall and the lighting effect in my room. It was peaceful, too. The Hotel is located apprx 2 miles from the Amsterdam Central Station/ City Center and away from the crowds. The 22 Bus is very close to the hotel - it runs often during the day. The staff were very helpful - they assisted me in finding a laundry / wasserette nearby. The hotel's restaurant is an excellent value and the food/ drinks were really good. Perfect location if you want to be in the heart of things, clean and fairly modern, unlike many other hotels in the city center. Most interiors are older and of course narrow stairs to deal with, but Luxer has a lift. The rooms as well as the lobby has nice modern decor, oh and free coffee downstairs. Great stay the staff was amazing, will stay again when in Amsterdam.
