Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeStaff were polite . But i felt no warmth of the usual hotel staff. Curt and professional but thats abt it. I assume a small hotel like this will have a more personal touch and charm with service. However it didnt bother me..it was just my observation.
Beautiful hotel. Unique and so much to see. I sat on every antique chair or sofa i saw. The garden was delightful!!! The room was super comfortable. Bed was amazing. The stories abt my room and the hotel was wow. The bath was abit tricky, it was hot n cold n hot n cold, it was frustrating to take a shower. Wifi was great. Location is not bad. I walked to town, it was a nice lovely walk, took me 15mins. I also took uber and it was cheap to get to middle of town. The honesty bar was cool!

ChileIt isn’t the place but the area, it’s a short walk, under 20 minutes to get to the main areas in Hobart. If you aren’t a fan of walking there is some uphill battles, Ubers were under $10 if that is preferred but the walks were great for us to walk off our hearty meals
The place was just a place to stay it was an experience, the finer details added into this like the honesty bar and the gardens to walk through were amazing. I felt like I went back in time The bed and room itself were even larger than in the pictures

SingaporeWhile the decor of the room is undeniably lovely, there were a few impracticalities. Chief amongst these was the vintage porcelain sink - it was very pretty, but the distance from the tap was so short that it was quite a challenge to use the sink. Another small issue we faced that the main two charging points were so close to the toilet door that we couldnt open the door without knocking into our chargers/phones. The size of the room also doesn't seem to be as big as 42sqm as advertised on Booking.com (as a few other reviewers have observed).
As a heritage buff, I found it thrilling to stay in a beautiful heritage property featuring gorgeous period furniture and vintage decor. The property owners have clearly devoted much effort to restoring the property and preserving its heritage. Our room, the Basil Crisp room, was full of framed vintage pictures and even had a bicycle that once belonged to Basil Crisp. We also enjoyed admiring the views from the veranda and wandering around the lovely garden grounds.

AustraliaAbsolutely cannot fault our stay here. From the moment we arrived we were so welcomed by the vibe of the building, and the staff - particularly Vivienne and Mala - are so friendly. It is beautifully decorated and the gardens really well kept, you can really see the attention to detail in everything. We took so many photos and videos. We made sure to have breakfast based on reading some raving reviews, and it was amazing! Wouldn't hesitate so stay here again, and have already recommended to so many friends & family. Can't wait to try out the different rooms!

AustraliaThe sheets on our bed were an ill fit. They didn’t stay put and bunched up very quickly after getting into bed. Probably an attention to detail that needs to be paid. Not good given the nightly accomodation costs. Breakfast needs some attention to detail as well. Adequate but not outstanding. Food may have been prepared by someone who isn’t a cook.
This accomodation was beautiful. Its surroundings and furnishings were absolutely delightful. The gardens are superb. All of the procured antiques and finishes added to an amazing ambiance.

United KingdomA couple of slight downsides for me 1. The bathroom (which was fabulous) was on the ground floor under the bedroom, so quite a trek through the apartment involving stairs and steps in the middle of the night. Not so easy with rickety ankles and jetlag. 2. The Servants Quarters kitchen also has a door (and window) into the main hotel breakfast area. This is great if you want to head straight there for breakfast, not so for privacy. We had visitors/other guests knocking on the door a couple of times, thinking it was genuinely the staff quarters.
A great 'shabby chic' vibe in the Servants Quarters, the apartment was very comfy. The little kitchen worked well for self-catering. We enjoyed exploring Hobart, the harbour, and the Domain and Botanical gardens. All perfectly doable on foot. The gardens at the property were beautiful. The staff were very helpful, especially when we blew a fuse using the dryer 😁
