Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bathroom was just a tiny bit small, but not that it was a problem for us.
Lovely hotel. Historic and grand. Perfect central location. Lovely room with double facing windows. Lovely breakfast room. Wonderful service by the gentleman on the reception and also I loved the delicious breakfast served by a wonderful lady called Alma. The attention to detail at breakfast with a wonderful choice of food, so wonderfully presented was a real treat to start off the day. It was very easy to park behind the hotel in a booked space. A very short walk to the hotel. Amazing!

CanadaIt was on the south end of the old city so it was a bit of a walk to get to the Castle and some of the other sights, but being so close to the train station made up for that.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful building, 5 min walk from the Central Train Station. Clean room, comfy bed, lots of space, and fab washroom. Antique furniture and old art to give the place the vibe I like. Friendly, helpful staff. Lots of good restaurants nearby, including Ruff’s burgers - best I’ve ever had, an Irish pub, great for anyone missing an English meal, and Bohm’s Herrenkeller (trad German food) round the corner - best of old and new worlds.

ItalyBeautiful building in excellent location with on site parking. Antique furniture as well as modern practical items. Very well equipped gym room. Excellent breakfast with huge variety of organic/health and regional options. The hotel is run by the same family who has owned it for 120 years - they take pride in making guests feel welcome and we have enjoyed our brief stay with them very much.

United StatesAs is often the case in older European hotels, the elevator is small and slow, so for someone who cannot climb the lovely, grand staircase, this might be a problem.
I had a wonderful stay at the Deutscher Kaiser during the Christmas Market. It’s an easy walk from the train station and on the main street of the Old Town. The property’s character added to my experience of this wonderful time of year. I think the proprietor gave me a room upgrade because I stayed for four nights. I went on to Paris, and stayed in a 4-star hotel there. Here’s what the Deutscher Kaiser had that the Paris hotel did not: a refrigerator, robe and slippers, an upholstered chair, a closet with doors, a timed heater in the bathroom, a lighted make-up mirror, and a sink that could be stopped to wash undies. The breakfast was among the best I have had in Europe. I highly recommend this hotel.

United StatesHost of the property was super nice and very accommodating. We arrived earlier than expected and our room was ready and we were able to check in. We were just going to drop our bags off but it was a bonus to be able to get into the room. The breakfast was fabulous! IT is in a PRIME location and very walkable to many historic attractions. Just loved the old world feel in a very updated facility. Would travel back in a heartbeat!

United StatesCity central, nice hotel with a very quaint eating area for breakfast. Gives you the feel of back in the 20’s. Staff was nice. Facility had parking available. Our room 106 was facing the alley so you could hear the trash truck in the morning. We loved the hotel overall. No AC, no restaurant, no bar

United StatesIsn't it ironic? I would have loved to book directly with the hotel, because it's cheaper to do it that way. However at the time I booked, my browser said that it wasn't a secure website. That's why I used booking.com
Walking distance to train station and everything in Old Town. I loved the chandeliers in the hallways and room. It felt like I was staying in authentic German hotel with modern amenities.

United StatesIt’s in a great location! City central. The hotel has a elevator, which is huge. So many stairs in Germany. The staff was great. We were able to park on site for 18 euro. We checked in early since they had our rooms ready. No A/C, fans in room. It cooled off at night.

United StatesThere was no air conditioning. We were provided with a ventilator that used water. We left it on when we went out. When we came back the room was a humid swamp, it was terrible. We turned it off and did not use it again. They did provide us with 2 fans for the very hot weather.
We were upgraded for free to a 1-bedroom suite that was beautifully decorated, which was very nice. The breakfast was excellent, many choices of food. The hotel staff was very nice and accommodating.
