Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandOur family wasn’t able to have side by side rooms which made it challenging with luggage, coupled with the huge delay in being able to check in (after 6pm due to heavy guest changeover). For a family with a 2 year old this made bedtime setting up the far apart rooms quite stressful late at night when everyone tired. No notice was given for the late availability of the rooms, we found out when we arrived at 4pm and were told it would be half an hour, however it wasn’t ready until much later than that.
We only stayed for a quick stop over, so didn’t see much of the facilities but it was reasonable priced for a good hotel with nice common areas.

United KingdomVery average coffee at breakfast. Difficulty in operating departure gates from the carpark - had to call reception as ticket was not recognised. When restaurant become busy with a couple of larger groups, myself and another solo diner were basically ignored.
Nice hotel on my way from Stuttgart to Cologne. Nice location and good parking. Great view from the window, nice restaurant, good service some of the time. Very nice breakfast - good buffet selection.

CanadaWe found breakfast to be pricy, so we skipped it.
We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is older, but has lots of charm. Rooms are huge, and the bed was super comfortable. Property has a pool and two saunas - a dry one and a steam one. Shower is modern, with lots of pressure. Parking is at the hotel and is only 12 Euro a day. Center town is a 5-minute walk away.

PolandWe didn't checkout but the person responsible for cleaning the room took the cloths of my son and moved to reception, which a little bit suprised us when we came back from the city center, since I wanted to wash my son.
The location is really special, close to the city center. Also, people working in the hotel were friendly.

United StatesI stayed in mid-May, the temperatures were cool and by leaving the window cracked open and lowering the rolling shutters until they were almost closed (no one could see through them), I could sleep with plenty of fresh air. The Insel does have air conditioning but it was not turned on yet. Thus, if the weather had been warmer, I would have had trouble sleeping. Also, there was no small fridge in my room. But these are being phased out in most hotels because they are energy hogs. I would say my complaints are tiny ones and on the whole I felt very comfortable and at home at the Insel.
The Insel is an experience. The name means "Island" and it's on an island in the Neckar River, reachable by a bridge across a 19th-century lock. There is plenty of parking and even the subterranean level of the garage has unusually generous parking spaces. You take the elevator right up from the garage to the check-in desk. Right near check-in is a display of their famous house-made confection, their version of a Florentine, with milk chocolate and sliced almonds -- delicious. Heilbronn is a city with plenty of history despite having been largely flattened by British bombers in 1945 (6500 deaths). The old town hall and the medieval St. Kilian's Church have been lovingly restored. The hotel is right on Kaiserstrasse, a pedestrian main shopping street (only city train/tram traffic). The Insel has a lovely indoor pool with big glass doors to outdoor deck chairs, a unique feature is the pool lighting which constantly but slowly, unobtrusively, changes colors. And right outside the changing rooms is a spinning water extractor that gets your bathing suit all but dry before you return to your room! The Insel has two restaurants, the traditional one with Swabian (local) specialties and Blossom, a newly opened sushi restaurant. Both serve excellent food. There is a big sun terrace in front of the restaurants on which one can dine in good weather. The breakfast is lavish, an ample buffet, and they put carafes full of coffee on every table with milk and sugar ready to hand. There is also a hotel bar. The staff goes out of its way to make your stay a pleasant one. This is a family-run hotel with a long tradition, and worth a visit.

AustraliaThey offered a shower/body gel combo product (at the spa as well) instead of shampoo, conditioner and separate shower gel. Also no fridge or kettle, tea making facilities in the room.
The dry sauna, steam sauna and shower facilities seemed newly renovated and excellent. In the morning, they can turn it on when you call. I didn't use it but the pool along the river looked beautiful .
