Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaLike all central districts near train stations, some of the people in the street can be a bit rough-looking ... but I never felt in peril.
Easy access to main Munich rail station, just 1.5 blocks away. Also quite handy for sightseeing. Rooms were large and quiet and the staff - family-owned and run, I think - were lovely. They had a beer fridge in the lobby and one of the staff insisted on showing me how to pour a weisse beer properly (I already knew, but still ...)

CanadaPillows were a bit flat, but not a huge deal. Everything was very convenient. I kind of liked that the room wasn't serviced everyday, that was fine.
Breakfast was fantastic, great variety and fresh. The breads were fresh and the baked goods changed daily. Loved the juicer, make your own fresh juice every morning. Liked the self serve stations to get extra towels, toilet paper etc.

CanadaThere was building construction right across the street. Not super loud and no fault of the hotel.
Extremely comfortable stay on the first stop of our Germany trip. Front desk staff was great, genuinely super friendly people. Parking the car was not an issue. Spacious, comfortable and clean rooms. The wall mounted radio/ Bluetooth music speaker was a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing.

SingaporeI had a room on the ground floor looking out to the car park. Fortunately I was staying for just one night so I could live with that uninspiring view.
Hotel Metropol is well located: within walking distance from Munich Hbf, Marienplatz, close to many cafes and restaurants. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was a simple selection but good enough for me.

Everything! Convenient location and very friendly staff. Hotel is very clean. Every staff I have met is very friendly and helpful. Close to the center and steps from the Hbf the main train station. Everything is close by. Good breakfast too! The hotel is also very close to tour meetup points.

Thomas the concierge is one of the reasons we chose to return to the hotel, he goes out of his way to welcome the guests and is genuinely happy to answer any questions and give helpful suggestions. Location, staff, room size, and cleanliness are many reasons to stay here.

Room was large with a comfy bed. The breakfast was the best we've ever experienced in a hotel. They offered sausages, eggs, huge selection of breads, jams, fruit-you name it! Also, cheeses & meats, good coffee & juices! Location was a short walk to the train station. Restaurants in vicinity.

CanadaThe street block that it is on had construction on the other side. There was no noise from this and our room was soundproof however it made the last part of the walk to the hotel isolated and shadowy coming back to the hotel later at night.
Very close to the train station, Munchen Hauptbahnhof, and easy walking distance to the old Town. Modern facilities with small touches to support your stay, very comfortable bed. Room was incredibly quiet. Free cappuccino machine and tea 24h in the lobby which we made use of. Staff were lovely. We opted for the full breakfast, at 22 euro, but felt worth it as it was an incredible buffet with many selections including lots of healthy and fresh options.

United StatesNothing -- if you don't want to pay for the conference rooms and spas you never use in a large hotel, the Metropol is perfect.
Our room, a junior suite,, was a nice size with a room divider separating the bed from a sitting area with a couch, chair and small tables. The bathroom was large with plenty of shelf space.and lots of instantaneous hot water. In our 8 day stay, the maid cleaned and changed the bedding twice, but clean towels are always available whenever you want them from a supply shelf on the second floor.. Breakfast was included in our room rate. There was a wide variety of foods, and the staff kept every thing fresh. Coffee and tea are free and freshly made in the lobby at any time . Thei location is very convenient -- a block from the main train station with many of the subway and street car lines connecting there and plenty of cabs at any time. Maybe not the prettiest part of Munich, but the Metropol is on a quiet street just far enough away so that we were not bothered by street noise. The best part of the Metropol, however, is the wonderfully helpful and pleasant staff. We realy felt we staying with friends who just happened to have a lot of extra rooms to share!l
