Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe room does get a bit hot in summer.
Breakfast porridge was really nice! I recommend this hotel: good location, nice clean rooms, big bathroom, enough place to store the luggages. Also internet speed was good. Owners are friendly and share many stories. Also, the hotel cat is great!

United KingdomWe were up in the eaves and it was incredibly hot. Even the Germans found the heatwave unbearable. There was only 1 fan. Dustballs in the wardrobe. Should stop using covid as an excuse for not returning ring to the breakfast buffet. Had to preorder whilst checking in with no explanation of portion size etc
Very central to the town centre, a lovely traditional hotel run by a hardworking family

GermanyI appreciated that the host asked us at check-in what we would like to eat for breakfast. That wastes much less food than a buffet. None of us left hungry, and everyone got what they wanted. The location can't be beat.

FinlandMost of all, modernize the beds. At least in our family room we had "classic" beds which had wooden frames designed for diminutive elves. The mattresses were very thin, meaning it was like sleeping on the floor. One of the worst nights ever. I mean, you do not require the water to be fetched from the village well nor do you have to use a bucket for a toilet. "Classic" where it makes sense. The hotel is not really a pro business geared at non-German travellers. There is a certain charm to it, but prices could also then be lower. When we arrived, there was a sign in German saying the reception will soon be back. After a while in 30C and the sun we figured out one could also call a number which answered in German. We do not really speak the language so throughout the visit it was us talking in English and them replying in German. Just be aware of this if you are not good at guessing based on other Germanic languages you know. After 5 mins the receptionist ran to the hotel in the heat from somewhere, looking ready to collapse. Would be better to have clear communication in English instead of "gleich". The guest does not want to feel guilty for the health of the personnel and it is not that serious. While we were also tired of travelling and the heat at that point,, we were immediately pushed a list of breakfast ingredients to tick.. no translations,.no explanations. Just wanting to get into our rooms already, and ticking off quickly, we of course made some errors, not bothering to GT. Please wait for that a moment and spend 5 mins having them translated. Of course provided a lesson in German food lexicon to us, for only 50€ or so.
The location and the almost playhouse feel of the interiors are nice. Bath tub was a plus too (family room).

GermanyAbsolutely nothing, everything was perfect.
Everything is amazing about this place. The family who runs the hotel is super friendly. Here Joachim made sure upon our arrival that we have everything we need for breakfast the next day (which btw. was delicious). The location is amazing, right next to the Town hall. The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean, keeping the air from the old building.

United StatesThe is one car space to load and unload, but no parking. There is a free lot just outside the city walls, maybe ten min walk. There is a pay garage another five, ten minutes in the same direction. Wasn't too big a deal. If you want lodging in medieval center of town, don't expect parking.
Right in the center of Dinelsbuhl and easy walk to everything you would want to see or explore. Breakfast was to order and very good. Room was comfy and clean. Staff/owners were available and helpful. Would certainly book again. Lodging was in a separate building from kitchen, dining and admin building but it was ten steps across an alley.

GermanyThere was some problem with booking at Booking.com and their system so they could not find our booking when we arrived. In the end, they gave us a smoker room although we had requested a smoker-free room in our online booking at booking.com.
The staff is very friendly, Parking places are available free of cost at a 5 min walking distance. Breakfast was very good and the hotel/house was very traditional it was around 400 years old.

CanadaThere is nothing that we did not like. There is no parking, but that is normal considering that the hotel is in a small village. We had to park outside the village, 10 min walk from the hotel. Not a problem for us. Make sure you drop your luggage first and then go park. Parking is free and there was always available places.
The room was well equiped, clean and spacious. The B&B is well located right in the center of the village. We were greated by the owner with whom we had many conversations (in German and french). The lady who prepared breakfast in the morning was incredibly nice; everything was prepared for us and nicely put on the table, with our name on it. The owner, his wife and the staff helped us organize our activities (places to visit, where to go for a walk in the forest, etc). There is a lot to do in the village (just go walk around and admire the architecture, make sure to take a walk outside the wall). There are many other villages to visit in the romantic Strasse, Dinkelsbühl is conveniently located to explore them all, going North or South. Dinkelsbühl was our "coup de coeur", i.e. the place that we enjoyed the most during our three weeks vacation in Germany, thanks to the owner, his beautiful B&B and the staff.
