Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaNo tea or coffee making facilities in the room. Limited availability of this product outside breakfast. Limited evening restaurant menu.
Lovely old style hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Helped carry my case upstairs. Very good breakfast facilities and food service. Restaurant and bar on site in the afternoon and evenings. Fantastic beer garden. Cost effective accommodation. Plenty of power points to recharge tablets and phones.

United KingdomExcellent breakfast - buffet-style which included scrambled eggs and sausages. There were flasks of coffee on each table. I had dinner at the hotel on one night & it was excellent. The waitresses were particularly smiley.

United KingdomWell appointed clean and comfortable room in an old building right in the centre of town. Good breakfast choices but slightly let down by instant coffee instead of the real thing. The town itself is beautiful and it was great to be able to stay in a period building that still came with all mod cons

AustraliaFinding that the room we booked was not in the hotel, but in a seperate annex building. This was not clear on the Booking.com website. The annex building is four floors (no lift) and we were on the third. Impossible for most. Elderly people to access, certainly with luggage. This needs to be made very clear on the website.
Spacious room, very clean and had an old world charm. Hotel restaurant is very good.

Germany- no elevator, elderly people might have problems - no air condition, summer weather might have high temperatures in Germany - drunk and loud people in the surroundings of the hotel at night
The hotel is located at Quedlinburg's market place in the middle of the old town: very picturesque. We liked the comfortable and spacious room, and had dinner and breakfast and enjoyed both, especially the local food of the Harz mountain range. Good parking at the hotel.

United KingdomEverything was excellent. No complaints!
Lovely old "coaching inn". Very tastefully maintained and decorated in genuine style. Nice large room with very comfortable bed and lovely view over Fachwerk houses towards town. Excellent breakfast. Good dining facilities, especially outside in old galleried courtyard. Hotel staff were very polite and helpful which made for a relaxing stay. Would definitely choose this hotel on our next visit to Quedlinburg.

NetherlandsThere was place to sleep for four in the apartment. The two single beds were good but the sofa was very uncomfortable to sleep on. It is basically a wooden floor you sleep on with a thin matras. The staff could not supply a solution and with the checkout I got the response that no-one ever complained.
The rooms were clean and large. There is also a kitchen with new utensils. The restaurant and beer garden are very nice to look at. We only had drinks there once because the prices are a bit high. The parking is good, you get a pass for the barrier.

GermanyVery nice place in stylish antique house. We had rented a one bedroom apartment w/ kitchen: We liked the apartment very well, it was cosy. The bedroom was facing the back so it was quiet. Staff very friendly, breakfast and restaurant of good quality. The location is very good, just a few steps to the city center, parking accessible from the back of the hotel. Wifi was working well.

United StatesNot well staffed (staff did not seem to know what they are doing). Room was very loud and hot. Nothing done to mitigate issues such as double pane windows, black out curtains against sun on windows, or ceiling fan. Typically no air conditioning in German hotels/pensions.
