Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumThe breakfast could have been better. The American pancakes were cold and hard, and for the price I expect a bit more fresh. Carpets were tired and corridors could do with antics of paint. Spa is nice, but sauna is inexplicably upstairs and locked.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful building, lovely art and comfy bed.

United KingdomThe bathrooms let the rooms down they are very old and could do with updating. Maybe a website order service for room service would be a good idea for those of us lacking in language culture.
The rooms were absolutely stunning. The building itself is a pure work of art. The room was spacious and clean. The male staff at the hotel are extremely helpful and cannot do enough for you. The women on the other hand were not so much, but I did find the language barrier very hard as much my fault as I find French a very hard language.

BelgiumScrambled eggs at breakfast were disappointing.. The spa was nothing special. This hotel did not offer value for money - €300+ per night! I felt I was ripped off.
Room was comfortable but not a huge room. Breakfast was adequate but the biggest disappointment was the 'Spa'. A small pool and a steam room. That was all. Good massage though.

United KingdomRoom lighting a little too subdued. Bathroom & Toilet at opposite end of room which meant quite a trek to wash hands especially during the night. Very tastefully converted 17th century chapel forms the centerpiece of the hotel.

United KingdomPart of the hotel is in need of repair and upgrade. Some of the facilities (like the tea and coffee or the hair dryer) are not of the standards usually found in hotel of the Hermitage’s standard.
The hotel is located a short walk away from the centre of Lille. The lobby is beautifully decorated. Nice bathrobes and slippers in the room. Comfortable bed and ample storage.

United KingdomThe bed fall apart in the middle of the night and the cleaning staffs didn’t sort it out. The lighting is dim, and the soundproof is bad but considering it’s refurbished from monastery it is understandable. The bathroom and toilet are located in different directions and there is no sink next to the toilet so you have to walk all the way to the bathroom to clean your hand. The masseurs for couple massage are not experienced enough as they were weak to put on the right pressure for both of us. The extra pillow and blanket kept putting back on despite it is clearly we put that away. After we left a note we don’t want it back on the bed, they didn’t take away the pillows but leave it where it was which I haven’t experienced it in any 5star hotels. There is a small table looks like something from ikea just to put there for the purpose of potential room breakfast.
The overall decoration of the hotel is novel and staffs are friendly. The room is big compared to other hotels in France.

United KingdomWe did not think that the hotel warranted a 5 star rating. The breakfast was underwhelming and the choice of available food was clearly not worthy of such a positive rating. We also found the pillows to be like jelly - very soft and not firm, perhaps that's just normal though. Finally, and possibly more importantly, we were concerned that late on, one afternoon, one of two men walked straight into the room and as soon as I confronted them, one said sorry and they both disappeared up the corridor. They were both dressed casually and as though they were both about to leave the building. I phoned reception who said they would investigate. When reception phoned back, they said that they were members of staff & that they should have knocked on the door first. However, there was no explanation as to why they had attempted to walk straight into a guest room and we were left feeling that they were both opportunists.
The bedroom & bathroom were fine, and the pool was nice to be able to use after a long day walking & sightseeing.

Room was very nice. Facilities were excellent, especially pool and sauna. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was full of history which we enjoyed as well as the church.
