How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Parking but that was overcome with the valley service (which was excellent). The color scheme in the rooms was “different”. It took a bit of getting used too but it grew on us in time.
The location and architecture were lovely.

The design of each room is different , which is quite nice and gives character. Unfortunately the one in our room was garish and rather over the top. Moreover, it's designated a 5 star hotel but in reality should not be more than 4. This is not to say we found it uncomfortable or unpleasant.

the moquette in the bedrooms. At the check-in , on saturday morn, was terrible the market in front of the hotel: very difficult to rejoint the car.
I liked the garden, very cozy. The swimming pool is a relief during the summer

The Jules Cesar in Arles is colourful and chic in a vey convenient location, breakfast is a true feast , there are several outdoor areas to relax , the staff are most efficient and attentive.

Room small. But was a basic room and fine for our needs. Water not hot enough and bathroom fan didn’t work. Garden and pool closed at 8 pm. Was hoping to take a coffee out and read. First and second day there was no service by the pool. Third day there was. Much better!

There was a problem with the hot water in the room for the first night -- the technician came and kind of half-fixed it. It did end up working eventually.
The location of the hotel is incredible -- right next to the Arles market. It is extremely convenient to drive to but then also to walk to the city center. The breakfast is great.

The bathroom. A black square toilet is the most uncomfortable and unfunctional toilet I have sat on. The black bath is not much better. The vanity basin is not practical for washing hands or having tape on low flow as water doesn't stay within the sink. Plus, there is nowhere to put the soap. The hot water flow is very low.
Great location, especially for Saturday markets as these are directly outside. Staff are very helpful. The water, juices and nightly chocolates put in room are an appreciated touch to our stay.

The hotel was obviously understaffed during the Xmas holidays and it showed on various occasions: breakfast buffet, new year's eve dinner at the restaurant, spa... That being said, the personel did everything they could to make sure guests have the best possible time. In the room (2nd floor suite), despite the avant-garde decor, we missed basic amenities like the ability to dim the lights (or at least have some sort of ambient lighting): it was either very bright or too dark. Also, absent was any sort of workable bedside lighting: to read a book lying in bed we had to keep the strong ceiling lights on. Finally, we would have really loved some kind of hooks or chair or something to hang our clothes on. Bottom line: the room looked good but lacked functionality.
