Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MaltaNot having a lift could be an issue if you have heavy bags - the rooms aren't on the ground floor.
Clean, central and nicely decorated. Very easy to find and access the place. All details about the place and the town were well communicated before our stay.

FranceThe checking details were unclear.. was told the room was on the 1st floor (which was occupied), and needed up being the 3rd floor through trial and error.
Perfect location m, right above a wine bar amd close to several other cosy spots. Nice little tea corner included. Quaint finishing touches to the room.

United Kingdomnothing not to like. stairs are steep and narrow but was not a problem.
Charming place to stay. we were on the third floor so needed to be fit. But loved it’s charm and very French feel. Great shower room amidst the character. Their cafe opposite is great for breakfast and theres a lovely wine bar just round the corner. Great location. Would stay again and highly recommend.

GermanyI loved it but please be aware that it is in the middle of a maze of little streets with a bit of noise from people laughing and talking at night and also the garbage trucks and street cleaners in the early morning.
Gorgeous traditional house in the old town, very quaint and in top condition with antique furnishings and lots of style. There are three rooms on top of each other, one on every floor. all sweet and special. Fab location to explore the town, option to have breakfast in their own cafe opposite (or in the cafes on the harbour 50m away) and a lovely popular wine bar in the same building downstairs. Communication of arrival and departure procedures was friendly, easy and comprehensive. Lovely comfortable bed with crisp cotton sheets Good shower.

United StatesOur only complaint was noise from the wine bar directly below our room. (We stayed on what the French/British would call the "first" floor, and what Americans call the "second.") Two nights of our stay, the bar stayed open until about midnight, playing music, with moderate to loud voices, and very audible furniture rearrangements, etc. We wanted to sleep with the windows open (the nighttime air was very pleasant) but over the course of an average night, it seemed that maybe ~5 times somebody would zoom by on their loud motorbike, which reverberates quite a bit in the narrow street with large flat-faced buildings going four stories up on both sides, and woke us up every time. Closing the windows made a very big difference for the street sounds and quieted the motorbikes enough to sleep through.
We had a wonderful stay at La Maison d'Odette. The location was fantastic—right in the middle of painfully cute La Ciotat, directly across the street from a lovely cafe, a grocery, a shoe store, and neighboring a truffle shop. The old town of La Ciotat is remarkably quaint and La Maison d'Odette is perfectly situated to explore it.

FinlandWe had little trouble checking in as the instructions were in french and there is no reception, but found the right code and got help via texts. We would have loved to get more coffee capsules on a second day :D
Hotel was super cute and the room was bigger than expected. Lot of great restaurants, boulangerie and grocery shop just outside the hotel. Bed was comfy. There was some outdoor noises as the hotel is on a very cute little street but it all got quiet before 10 pm.

IndiaThe facilities were not upto the expectation. The basic amenities were sparse like limited toilet paper rolls, no change of towels during our stay, the kettle, coffee maker had dust on it and it was all old inside the kettle, there were two tea bags and two coffee pods. No all the switch were working in the place.
The decor, the location, the design of the place was simple, austere and nice.

United Kingdomit would have been helpful to have good size mugs, and some basic cutlery. Also sponge to wipe down the surface by the kettle. I left some thermos glasses as a contribution to the facilities! The wiring of the bedside light on the side of the bed nearest the entrance was faulty - I did manage to re-wire it, but it remains dodgy!
excellent location in the centre of everything. good directions for access. excellent bed. bathroom good. kettle and coffee machine provided.
