Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyUnfortunately the wifi was out of order during our stay.
The gentleman on duty when we arrived was extremely friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed talking with him on a number of occasions. He was the same with the other guests as well. We enjoyed the breakfast, the selection was good and tasty. The hotel offered secure storage for our bikes.

GermanyThe water drain in the sink was blocked and the bathroom light was constantly flickering. Wifi would have worked only against the release of all personal contact data, we therefore thankfully declined.
Lovely hotel in the middle of the old town, nice and safe area, even at night. The staff was always super friendly and helpful.

SwitzerlandThe light in the room could be brighter And the shower door was leaking
Location was great, right in the town center. Parking in a public car park was easy and close enough to the hotel but inspite of price reduction it was rather expensive. The lady in the breakfast room was a sunshine! She was so very helpful and made us feel very welcome

Just around the corner from the historical center of the town. A small hotel, small rooms, good for a few nights stay. Very helpful and friendly staff. If you're having breakfast at the hotel - better come early, as the kitchen is run by one person, and it may take some time.

AustraliaOne of our bags went missing, only had some food in it so wasn't too bad but slightly annoying.
Clean, comfortable, central to everything, really enjoyed our stay.

United KingdomCourtyard below the room was occasionally smoky. Was bothersome for our daughters with the windows open.
Our second stay here. Great location, family room with double bed and two single beds with bathroom in middle is a clever arrangement, was perfect for us for one night, we walked to central station in the morning. Security good someone on the door 24hrs.

United KingdomNot a problem particularly, but it was an open sided shower (no curtain or screen) and the shower head was hard to direct - which did make the floor rather wet. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment.
What a find!! Great location so close to all the sites yet quiet at night, friendly staff, and brilliant sized room for a family. Nice and clean, with lovely smelling bathroom toiletries. We only stayed for two nights but were asked if we wanted our towels changed after the first night!- which was handy as the bath matt was rather wet from the shower. We all agreed we would stay here again!

United KingdomRoom slightly tired / 1980s decor. (I think the hotel's under new ownership since 2023 and is renovating rooms, so maybe room 6 is going to be refreshed).
Very friendly staff. Excellent location (almost no traffic down a car-free side street). Occasional noise from motor bike (usually food deliveries) or people walking back from night out. Unusually, there was a kettle and I like making my own herbal teas

IsraelAs this is an old building it has no elevator, I had to carry our suitcases to the second floor on the stairs. Specifically our room had no view. Just the wall of an adjacent building could be seen.
The location is superb. Literally two steps from the points of the main points of interest in Avignon. The room itself was reasonably sized and had all the facilities why needed. The bed was nice and comfortable. Good french breakfast (buffet). Very nice staff.

United KingdomGiven Avignon's one-way routing and central pedestrianised zone, car access to the hotel is possible but very very difficult - avoid if you can! Best parking is in the nearby Les Halles multi-storey car park.
The hotel is in a great central location (but exceedingly difficult to access by car - see below), otherwise average.

SwedenA cone balancing on its tip is more stable than the Wi-Fi; super slow and frequent disconnects, forget about syncing you photos to e.g. iCloud overnight.
Very close to the papal palace and friendly staff. Perfect for my purposes. To get there from the train station, follow Rue de la République to Rue Favart/Rue Carnot rather then do as I did and follow the GPS. The GPS will take you through a rabbit warren of medieval alleys with poor GPS reception.

United KingdomSince we stayed on the top floor, a down-stairs toilet would have been appreciated.
A very quiet, peaceful location but central to good bars & restaurants in the area, all in the old part of town. Easy access to main sites. All amenities within walking distance. Staff were really friendly. Breakfast in the outdoor area was delightful & relaxed. Our room was beautifully maintained & cleaned in a most unobtrusive manner. We were given advance warning about the stairs & lack of a lift to our room. This was greatly appreciated.
