Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Great location and breakfast, and the room was enough for three of us (but we expected it was more spacious). The bed and sofabed were comfortable, with no noise from outside the room (this is what we need!). The bathroom was clean, and standard toiletries (towels for 3, hand, hair/body wash gels) were provided. Best for a short stay.

Breakfast could’ve been better with more variety.
The hotel is located very centrally, just under a 10 minute walk from York railway station. The rooms had all basic amenities and were clean. We had a pleasant stay.

I though the breakfast was very average, poor non diary options and no extras to order. Basic facilities for eating and had very worn tired red plastic trays which I have never experienced in a hotel before. Everything else great I just feel for the money and the brand poor show for breakfast.

There was some redecorating going on on our floor (3rd) so there was a strong smell of paint in our room (as well as furniture being left in the corridor).
The location was great (near the train station) and the rooms are comfortable and a good size. The breakfast was amazing and the staff were happy to look after our bags for a few hours when we checked out.

The hot dishes at breakfast weren't particularly hot and some had been left a little too long on the hotplates.
The hotel was comfortable, the room good and close to the centre of the city. Also the food we had at the bar on our first night was excellent.

The green light in the bedroom lit the room up so I barely slept. Sofa bed was not really safe for a child die to the exposed metal parts.

The room felt a little dusty in general, not unclean but like the carpet or even the blinds were a bit dusty. We only really noticed because we have allergies, maybe other people might not notice as much.
The hotel was very easy to get to from the train station, and the location for general access to York centre was great. The twin room was a good size and had all required storage for a few days away. The beds were comfy and the room and bathroom was really clean. Breakfast had a good selection of cold, hot and fresh food, the waffle maker was a hit. It did get busy the later you went but no more than other busy hotels we have stayed at, just something to be aware of.

The staff were extremely helpful, polite and efficient. The lady on the desk (may have been the manager) was delightful, welcoming and nothing was too much bother for her. I had reason to contact the staff due to my son’s dietary requirements and the lady who was on the desk was also in the breakfast area and she was so helpful. All the staff were fantastic.
