Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNo locks on bathroom doors and no door on en-suite bathroom (rather odd!). No shampoo/shower gel, and not enough spare toilet roll. Dishwasher also broken and had stagnant water in. Smart TV old and doesn’t have apps E.g Netflix. To emphasise all of these are minor items and we would stay again but it would make the stay 10/10 if they were resolved!
Fantastic location to access the Yorkshire dales, very spacious, beautiful barn, high quality appliances and lovely hosts who were very helpful with check-in/check-out. Plenty of space to relax for a family!

Thoughtful host who really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The Lindt chocolate reindeer and Santa hunt left by our host went down very well with our children! It made a memorable start to our stay. The property was immaculate and we would recommend to anyone.

United KingdomWe felt the lack of privacy a little, as most windows directly face the owners' ones opposite. This includes the patio doors in the downstairs bedroom: these open onto the owners' gravel driveway between the two houses, as do the ones from the lounge/dining room, rather than onto a private area. Not a great hardship though. We thought it would have been useful to provide some coat hooks downstairs and hanging space in the bedrooms. The small, twin-bedded room did have a couple of very high hooks that I had to stand on a chair to reach. The information folder provided was oddly out of date, listing closed pubs and restaurants. An updated version would be really useful. Could felt pads be stuck to the dining chair legs? The scraping noise on the beautiful stone floor was loud! All in all though, we would happily return.
This was a lovely building with helpful, friendly owners. The village is very pretty and it's easy to reach from main routes and the surrounding towns. There is plenty to do and see around about but, sadly, no pub or shop in the village itself - other than a farm shop with delicious honey, jams and (frozen) meat. Bedale a few miles away has everything you need, as does Leyburn and we would definitely recommend The Queen's Head at Finghall, a short drive away, for food and drink. Parking is outside on the street and there was plenty of space for that. Furniture and decoration is very attractive and comfortable, with lots of room at the dining table and plenty of space for 3 couples to spend time together or separately. The beds were very comfortable with lovely cotton bedlinen. The kitchen is pretty well-equipped, with a big fridge freezer and a range cooker, though the big gas hob was slow. There was plenty of cutlery and crockery. We were beautifully warm with the efficient underfloor heating and it was great having the second sitting area upstairs, with a view and a balcony over the garden. In warmer weather, we would definitely have enjoyed the barbecue and outdoor sitting space. Good WiFi connection and tv. Good to have a downstairs loo and one downstairs bedroom. Showers were powerful and there was instant (very) hot water. The area has so much to offer for all ages and many are easily reachable by car. We were made to feel very welcome and the the fizz and tealoaf were a lovely touch. We very much enjoyed our stay.
