Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere's nothing negative.
The hotel is excellent. The room was spacious and well-appointed, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The food offered a varied menu with options to suit every taste, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality. What really stood out was the incredible service from the staff - they were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The location of the hotel is unbeatable, situated right by the sea, offering breathtaking views from practically every corner. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that exceeded our expectations.

AustraliaNothing to say here.
We absolutely loved this place. The Jemeluk room was our spot for a week and we were very sad to move on. The room was big and comfortable with a great view to the outside. Air con was efficient. Breakfast was reliable and had a bit of variety. Strong Balinese coffee and a full monty:) The team that run the place are really hospitable and very chill. Typical Balinese hospitality. Maybe the best thing about the place though is the little terrace where you have breakfast every morning and you can sit and just relax at the water's edge. Hard to imagine a better little relaxing spot. Everyone seems to love it. Walking distance to all the eating spots, smaller warungs 2-5 mins to the left, a bigger collection of restaurants 10-15min to the right. Stay in Amed, it's good Bali, and this place is a gem. We also spent a few nights at the Tirta Ganga room, as the Jemeluk wasnt available for those nights. Ditto for that room too. Don't waste your cash on the glitzy flash, you'll love it here.

ThailandThe room we stay did have weird layout. Shower room on ground floor, walk up on to toilet on second floor any climb steep stairs to bedroom on 3rd floor. If you want to use the toilet in the middle of the night make sure you don't fall down the stairs. No couch or comfortable chairs to sit to compare with some other rooms which have day bed or some couch to sit on. No place to hang our clothes apart from shower room. Wall is quite thin and our room was right next to lobby so we hear staff talking the whole time. Overall it was a great hotel with great staff and I will definitely come back here but I will not stay in that room again.
Staff are nice and helpful, room is clean, food is great, right by the beach. Quite environment

AustraliaThe rubbish in Amed.
We had the Amed room. Up 6? Narrow stairs and into a lovely shabby chic/quirkily decorated light airy room with a balcony overlooking the dinning platform a metre above the beach. The bathroom - toilet on bedroom level and the shower down 6 narrow steps. It's designed on a Japanese theme and well done I think. No pool chairs around the pool, the pool is nice. The pool chairs are on the beach in front of the dining area. The food we had was great. Fresh tasty and a good price, also good espresso and lattes. We did leave a day early not because of the lodge but because we were disappointed with the amount of rubbish. We were taken out on a boat organised by the lodge. He picked us up right outside on the beach. Unfortunately after the first snorkel at the Japanese wreck we just couldn't get in again as the rubbish was simply horrific. My partner actually decided to get out on the second stop but the currently was so strong it swept him right past the boat he just had time to grab onto one of the outriggers and we got him back onboard and we called it a day. So a few pointers here. If you have mobility issues this lodge isn't for you. Remember to take a life jacket with you on the boat trip and don't necessarily trust that they will drop you in a safe area to snorkel, it's at your own risk. I also liked that they had glass bottles of water that were refilled every day.

AustraliaAmed Lodge exceeded my expectations. The facility was stunning, with it's Balinese/Japanese design, and many Balinese artefacts both inside and outside the rooms. It is an intimate hotel with only a few rooms. My room was beautiful. The location was perfect, right on the beach. It was so relaxing and picturesque. The staff were so lovely and helpful, as well as knowledgeable about the region and happy to assist organising whatever I needed, from tours,, drivers and snorkelling equipment. The free breakfast was delicious, offering many choices, and they were flexible with timing of breakfast. It was very special to be able to sit at tables looking out over the early morning sun on the ocean, looking at the boats and maybe some people snorkelling too. I highly recommend this hotel.

BelgiumThe room I was staying in this time around was a little less convenient, with a lot of narrow staircases, and not a lot of room around the bed, nowhere you could really sit down or even properly put your suitcase, unless you want to put it on the lower floor where the toilet is, but again, not very convenient. I made it work, but lay-out wise, I preferred the family room and the room with the balcony by the beach that I stayed in the last two times. The bed is also in the middle of the room, and kind of facing away from the views, don't quite understand the reasoning behind that, if they'd put it the other way around and closer to the wall, that would have already made a huge difference. It was also quite a long way to get to the shower, and there was no mirror over the sink, which was a little annoying. And the prices are a little on the high end for the area. All in all, I didn't mind too much, I always enjoy staying here, but it's things you might want to keep in mind.
The location can't be beat, right on the beach, where you can have breakfast every day overlooking the ocean. You can see both the sunset and the sunrise from here, with nice views on the volcano as well. The staff is lovely, they'll do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible and will help you out with any excursions or transport you want to book. The rooms are very nice, some more spacious than others, but the bed is very nice, most rooms I've been in had great views, there's mosquito repelling devices present, complimentary water, a little fridge, the outdoor bathrooms are very nice too, I always really enjoy staying in this hotel. Breakfast is pretty nice, too, and very plentiful :)

KenyaIt was quite expensive compared to other similar properties which included breakfast. I found the breakfast here expensive and no better than the standard ‘breakfast included’ model of other nearby places. Tea / coffee should be available in the room or a kettle or flask. I asked for a kettle and did get one. Nowhere to sit - only on the bed or in the public areas- despite being on 4 floors. Hard to get the room cool. Steep stairs to other floors (don’t stay here if you get up in the night).
Great location and perfectly on the beach but a little bit back from the nocturnal noise of dogs and boats. It is a beautiful place, Japanese style, made from off-cuts and scraps of interesting wood. Full of character and charm. Our room was on four floors - shower on the ground floor, loo on first floor with an area for clothes, bedroom on third floor and a small (and hot) fourth floor room which would be good for meditation or yoga if you could take the heat. Lovely plot and serene pool. Staff are lovely.

Amed Lodge was perfect. The staff are incredibly helpful and lovely (they organised scooters, a shuttle bus, and ferry tickets within minutes!) and the rooms/facilities are beautiful. The accommodation is sparkly clean and well-maintained. It truly exceeded our expectations and we had such a great stay.
