The only thing I was a bit unhappy about was that the water geyser only seemed to give hot water for a few minutes at a time and then you'd have to wait for hours for it to heat it up again. So our showers mostly turned to cold showers, instead of a nice hot shower especially after a day's outing. We did talk to the owner about this and he tried to check things - but given the remoteness of this place and Nusa Penida itself, it was understandably difficult. Only a very minor inconvenience in an otherwise outstanding stay!

Just everything about Mahaloka was amazing! The room/villa (stayed in villa number 10) was spacious enough, and was squeaky clean! The bed was so amazing! After long and tiring days of sightseeing, we just fell comfortably asleep in the awesome bed. Can't emphasize enough how critical a good rest is! The location is absolutely fabulous - sandwiched between the forest-laden hills on two sides towards the end of the narrow valley that eventually opens to the sea in crystal bay, and it is so secluded that you really feel peacefully cut off from the world! Having said that, the crystal bay which does get quite a lot of crowd is still just a little more than a stone's throw away! We did all our excursions arranged by the resort itself, and it all worked out quite perfectly. The best part of this resort though is really the people. Right from the owner to the staff working there - everyone is just so courteous and welcoming! We did some of our excursions with driver Jo and it was a real pleasure to have him take us around! The food at the restaurant is also finger-licking good. The breakfast if a bit light on choice for vegetarians - but this is really more of nitpicking. During our stay, luckily we had no-moon night and I have had one of my best ever viewings of the milky way from Mahaloka! It was mesmerizing. I will undoubtedly be staying again here in our next trip.

As mentioned it's 900 meters away from Crystal Beach but those 900 meters is not a good path to walk, it's very quite and passes through a very silence trail

Wifi is super slow. They lost electrical power twice. Path to Crystal Beach is not the most nice one.

The place is incredibly beautiful with the wood cabins, the swimming pool and the surroundings. The staff very friendly. The food very tasty and good price.

Great location if you are driving scooter, it is a little remote if you don’t have your own transport and no taxi. Owner was so kind and gave us lift in his own car to neighbouring restaurant

The hotel is really far from restaurants etc. so you need to hire a car/motorbike or pay for a taxi to get anywhere.

We booked a twin room and really enjoyed our stay. The environment is very peaceful and quiet. The pool was nice, the beds were comfortable and the room was clean and looked after. The restaurant offers food which we tried on two occasions - the food was actually better than we expected based on the reviews but it probably does depend on what you order.

The water pressure from the shower is weak. The toothpaste provided is hardly usable. The breakfast can be improved (few options to choose from and only white toast available)

The staff are great. The common area is spectacular. The room is specious with comfy bed. The location is 10 mins walking away from crystal bay beach and 25 mins by car from the harbour. We also like the dinner at the on-site restaurant. The place is so quiet too.

The pool was often too warm to swim in for long periods but it was still enjoyable and the beach was just down the road.

Quiet hideaway in the middle of jungle, but still walking distance to the beautiful beach at Crystal bay and even more romantic Pandan beach. Triangle houses rather simple, but still very comfortable. We enjoyed watching the night from the pool

Great location in the jungle, 10 min walk to crystal bay through a tiny local village (no tourist shops). The staff were welcoming and great. Wonderful pool and little restaurant. Loved the wooden cabins. Basic but very comfortable and serene.

The people! Owner and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive to all needs. Mr Neuman, the owner provided me with his own bike as the old one wasn’t too great. Staff was flexible during late hours which is a welcome change compared to other places in Bali.

The hotel is quite and tranquil. The staff are super friendly. The hotel is surrounded by trees and is very private. It is a short walk to crystal beach where you can swim and also get drinks and food. The hotel food pricing is good value but it was also nice to have dinner at the beach and watch the sunset. The bathroom has an exposed ceiling above the shower with is a lovely touch while still being private. It is worth noting not to forget to turn your bathroom light off at night otherwise bugs get attracted to the light. Not a big issue, but a lesson we learnt quickly. There is local farms near by so you do hear animals at times. We picked this hotel as it was away from the busy streets and allowed us down time to unwind and enjoy the island. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to explore and enjoy the island while staying somewhere peaceful and relaxing but still being able to walk to a beach for a swim.
