Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe kitchenette could have been equipped with a bit more equipment. A small amount of pots were provided but missing some things like bowls.
Beautiful hotel in a good location, walkable to the high street and a short taxi ride to the beach area. Rooms were very well kept, the apartment we stayed in was much bigger than expected with a terrace and 2 balconies. The concierge was also so helpful in helping us find information and book excursions. The pool area is a great place to hang out with lots of sun cover by the plants.

United KingdomThere were no room drinks provided ( ie your basic Teas/Coffees, these had to be ordered through room service), and due to there not bein any shops located within a 5 min walk it would have been a nice touch to have something there that wouldn't cost an additional sum. Also the pool though fab was based around stones in our room, i can see the look they are going for but we saw other rooms which had decking which would have proved better with the cleaniness aspect.
We really liked the style of the hotel and also the room was a great size. We had our own mini pool and for the money it was worth the upgrade. The staff were super helpful and we would love to return due to this. The main shared pools were kept clean at all times and overall it felt like a nice calm environment .

United KingdomThe pool is small but perfectly sized so long as there aren’t many people there. If it is even slightly “busy” there are not enough lounge chairs for everyone.
Really spacious rooms which make it perfect for a family stay. Everything is very clean and modern. The kitchen lacks a few items but there is plenty to make basic meals for stay in and the food onsite is great and somewhat reasonably priced compared to restaraunts on the strip. The hotel layout and design is also nice.

United KingdomA full length mirror would have been good, and I do think that water/tea/coffee should be provided in the rooms. The only other thing, which has been noted by a few others, is the lack of pool beds. We were happy with bean bags, they were comfy, but perhaps if they moved some of the poolside lunch tables - which weren’t often used - this would make room for more loungers.
This hotel was the highlight of our two week trip to Mexico. Our room was huge, with a spacious kitchen and balcony overlooking the pool. I couldn’t believe the size of it, for what we paid. Great value for money! The fragrance that they filter through the fans was beautiful! The pool area was so relaxing, with an added bonus of a rooftop pool. The staff were so friendly and there was a good choice of food/drinks on the breakfast/lunch menu. A few reviews have mentioned the location as being remote, but I don’t understand this as it’s a ten minute walk into Tulúm central town with loads of bars and restaurants. We felt safe walking this. The beach taxis are expensive - about £30 one way - but that’s not the hotel’s fault!

United StatesThere was rarely open seating at either pool. It would be nice if area around our private pool was concrete, the rock was super messy. Each time housekeeping came. They seemed to take some towel (kitchen and bath) that they didn't replace with a clean one :/ The kitchen did not have much for utensils to cook with.
Private pool was nice. Staff was over the top amazing. Location was pretty good; withing in walking distance of some shops and cafés. On site restaurants were wonderful and so was restaurant staff.

MexicoWe booked into 124 with private pool. The water is not climatized so it’s essentially cold water because the plants shade it all day. This is the same for all of the lower level accommodation with private pools. This isn’t enjoyable and so therefore we didn’t use it and it was a waste of money. The main pool downstairs is beautiful but again, not heated. Even at the height of hot season this pool is cold, the kids didn’t want to stay long inside and I just didn’t want to get in it. It’s a shame because aesthetically it is very beautiful. Poolside there are not enough spaces for everyone. There are 4 sun loungers and a few bean bags, not enough for peak season when the hotel is busy busy. The service element was pretty average to poor. You had to wait a long time for towels to be replenished, sometimes not receiving fresh towels/mats/dish cloth until the night time. This was inconvenient. The kitchen was ok, could have done with more cloths and tea towels, a dish rack to dry pots and a mixing bowl.
It was very green and lush. Lovely decoration. Nice restaurants especially the Japanese.

United KingdomThe bathroom when we checked it was still a bit dirty. The food from the hotel restaurant was quite expensive and not that nice. The hotels wasn’t in a great locations, apart from the hotel bar and restaurants there wasn’t really anything nearby and you had a get a taxi or cycle to the main town.
The vibe and atmosphere of the hotel was very nice. It was very relaxing and had a great feel about the place. The pools were lovely and the cocktail man made great cocktails (although a bit expensive). The hotel arranged great day trips although again a bit expensive. The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve stayed in for a while, in the room there was a great tv and you could sign into your own streaming platform.

United KingdomPoor finish around the place. Flooring in disrepair around some areas, where the TV used to be in the bedroom there’s now holes and an empty space. This could have easily been remudied by placing a mirror or plant to improve the look and overall aesthetic. There seemed to be a wardrobe door missing from our daughters’ room. The shower wasn’t very powerful either.
Loved the look, style and jungle vibe

United KingdomDefinitely not a 5 star hotel, didn’t have the basics like tea or coffee in your room. Had to pay for water in your room which at all over Mexican 3 star hotels I’ve been given unlimited water. Stayed there for 5 nights and never had the toiletries refilled. The housekeeping needs some work.
Staff were lovely and it was a great jungle location! The food was great and hotel wasn’t too busy!! Quiet and peaceful.

PolandWhat is an eco toilet? From what I understand, Tulum has no sewage treatment plant... Across the road there are literally people living in shacks. Plastic garbage everywhere.
Location is ok. Price is reasonable for Tulum. The staff was really helpful. Clean inside the hotel. Good place to chill with kids.

United StatesLike seemingly many places in Tulum, you cannot walk to places (even the city center which is close by) at night. You will have to take a cab everywhere, which can get pricey. Again, a problem not entirely specific to this hotel, but something to consider.
Hotel Copal was clean, relaxing, always smelled great, and the staff was very helpful. Room service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. We booked here at the last minute after having a horrible experience with an air bnb, and couldn’t have been happier with our stay!
