Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australiathere was a weird smell in the lift everytime, the rooftop bar was closed and the walk from jonker street to the hotel is pretty far so you may need a trishaw or taxi. the movie night was good but outdoors when its hot and humid didnt make me wanna watch the movies.

United KingdomNo sound insulation so if you’re a light sleeper you may struggle. Breakfast was very busy, to the point where it was sometimes hard to find a seat.
Superb location in a beautifully restored Baba House. Friendly staff, spacious rooms, very clean.

SingaporeSmall place for breakfast. Cramp at food collection area. Have to wait for seats & distance between the tables quite close. Very noisy. Room rate high.
Clean & roomy for three persons. Unlike some hotels, basic amenities already stoodby without the need to ask for missing stuff. Baba House has a nice, cosy & authentic setting. Staff were patient, friendly & helpful. Room service was prompt eg. when we asked for some ice, they were delivered shortly. In another instance, we were waiting for Grab. It rained & we asked a young male staff who was manning the reception alone to help to collect the umbrellas when the vehicle arrived. After we got into the car, he cheerfully collected them from & at the same time he gave direction to a stranger when being approached. He was able to multi-task & stay cool regardless of the rain. Very convenient to Jonkers walk & the shops.

As soon as you enter there’s this lemongrass smell❤️❤️❤️ the interior of the building is nice with mural paintings. IT is nearby to most tourist places ( walking distance). We mainly booked it to stroll around the Jonkers street. There were some decent nyonya restaurants just across the road. Loved the food in kocik heritage nyonya restaurant.( located opposite the stay)

GermanyThe hotel is not very well soundproofed, which shouldn't be a problem if other guests aren't very loud (unfortunately we had a somewhat inconsiderate tour group on the same floor). The only other negative aspect I can think of is that during our stay there was always a very unpleasant smell in the air in the hallway around the breakfast area (not of food), which you have to walk through on the way to the rooms.
The room looked exactly like the photos and was very clean. The location of the hotel is very good, with everything within walking distance. We were pleasantly surprised that there is a good fitness room for a hotel (I don't think it is mentioned as a feature on booking and is a bit hidden). We didn't have breakfast in the hotel so can't judge it, but can recommend the restaurant in the same building (Rumah Kechik | small house).

SingaporeSince this is a Peranakan-themed hotel, it would be good to have a wider and better selection of Nonya kuehs for breakfast.
The hotel staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. In particular, my family and I would like to commend Mr Leong for his helpfulness. Upon our requests, he was able to give us very good advice and recommendations on the things to do and places to go to in Malacca (restaurants and massage etc). In addition, when I highlighted a constant droning noise in our room that was affecting our sleep at night, he was able to quickly and accurately narrow the cause down to the swinging of the aircon vent in our room. I adjusted the aircon vent movement and the distracting noise disappeared.

SwitzerlandThere was a strange and not so nice smell in our rooms and in the hallway connecting our rooms. The coffee at the buffet could be better.
Beautiful hotel/museum, love learning about the history of the house, the Peranakan families, the culture and philosophy. The dip pools at the rooftop were great for relaxing.at night time. The staff were super accommodating, helped us with our luggage. Comfortable beds and pillows. Location was amazing, right next to the main attractions and eateries. The cafe below the gym serves fantastic breakfast!

United KingdomNestled within the winding streets of Melaka, Baba House stands as a testament to the rich cultural tapestry that defines this UNESCO World Heritage city. Recently, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in the timeless charm of Baba House, an experience that seamlessly intertwined history, culture, and hospitality. Upon arrival, the grand façade of Baba House exudes an aura of nostalgia, transporting visitors to a bygone era of Peranakan splendour. Stepping through the entrance, I was enveloped in the warmth of traditional Peranakan hospitality, as the friendly staff greeted me with genuine smiles and a warm welcome. The interior of Baba House is a marvel to behold, meticulously restored to its former glory, yet tastefully adorned with modern comforts. Intricate Peranakan motifs adorn the walls, while antique furniture and artifacts offer a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the Peranakan elite. Every corner of the house is steeped in history, inviting guests to embark on a journey through time. My accommodation at Baba House was nothing short of luxurious. The rooms, adorned with ornate wooden furniture and vibrant Peranakan textiles, exuded an air of elegance and refinement. Modern amenities such as air conditioning and high-speed internet seamlessly blended with the heritage ambiance, ensuring a comfortable stay without compromising on authenticity. Beyond its architectural grandeur and culinary delights, Baba House offers a myriad of experiences to enrich the soul. Guided tours provide insights into the rich history and heritage of the Peranakan community, while hands-on workshops

MalaysiaThe breakfast place is easily crowded and noisy. A second coffee machine will help reducing the queuing time when the place is busy. Luckily they have nice tables outdoor.
I would highly recommend this accommodation. We had a room with balcony and it was quite spacious. The hotel is beautiful, very nicely decorated. It is centrally located and has a parking, which is very useful in Melaka. The service is excellent with a very friendly and efficient staff.
