Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsIn the general entrance of the hotel was a small tank with two fish (sluierstaarten in Dutch). The tank was dirty (green glass) and the water level was very low which made me think they were perhaps lacking oxygen. Apart from pebbles and a stone there was nothing for the fish to do and nowhere to hide. The hotel was using live animals as an accessory without paying attention to their needs. I expressed my concerns about the low water levels and the lack of oxygen. I also said I thought the lights in the entrance hall were on 24/7 so the animals could not get a natural day and night rhythm. When I talked to the manager on the last day of my stay, he reassured me that the lights do go off at night, but that they go on with a sensor when people enter. He also said he would buy the fish a bigger tank and add some plants for oxygen and some shelter.
The room was everything it had promised to be: simple, but very comfortable and relatively cheap. Nice bed! Very close to the beach! The receptionist was friendly and helpful and quickly supplied the water cooker that was missing from my room. He was also helpful when I expressed my concerns about the living conditions of the fish that were kept in the general entrance hall of the hotel (I was in room nr. 2). He cleaned their tank a bit and added some water so they could breath a bit better. He also expressed my concerns for the welfare of the fish to his manager. The manager later told me he would make an effort to improve the living conditions and the welfare of the fish! I'll gladly come back to see the result!

NetherlandsIt was fairly easy to hear what was going on around the hotel, the mattresses were a bit uneven and the location of the bed near the window meant that the curtains did not keep out the light in the morning.
This is a decent, basic hotel: it is a bit below par for the money you pay, but it is not bad. The room has all the things you need for a short stay and nothing more. The shower was comfortable. The location is great and checkin and checkout were easy.

GermanyI had a very small room 8m² at the street and when the sun shines in you need to ask the very friendly staff for a fan, because the temperature is getting really hot in there from 10am to 6pm (10-18h). I had no own toilet. The floor of the shared toilets smell a bit and the floor of the showers are a bit dirty. They need intensive cleaning. The fact that the shared bathrooms are dirty is more so the fault of the hotel guests than of the hotel cleaning ladies.
Very friendly staff. Very close to the beach. Supermarket, cash mashine and any shop you need close. Great TV channels, to be precise better TV channels than most 3 and 4 star hotels in the Netherlands. The rooms are extremely clean. It's a great place if you just need a room to sleep and are outside all day or maybe a few hours there to watch TV and eat. If you want a own toilet and bathroom you need to pay a bit more... and then it's the best price here in Scheveringen, The Hague.

NetherlandsThe room was not well insulated against noise-both from other rooms and from the outside, but nothing a pair of earplugs could not solve.
Well managed , good location and the bed linen/towels were almost brand new. Small touches like coffee in the room and a good reading light was a plus.

NetherlandsThe window even though closed still sounded like it was open and I could feel the cold from outside coming into the room the whole time but when asleep I didn’t feel the breeze.
The location was great nearby a tram stop and the theatre! Not a far walk from the beach either.

GermanyIt's a long list. This location benefits from a shortage of affordable accommodation in Den Haag and surrounds, which explains why so many customers accept its shortcomings. - The price for a room without bathroom is way too high. - The room was very small (probably 10m2) and the owners' costs were obviously saved at every turn. - The steep stairs had no guardrails and the danger of falling a story seemed great. - There were no drawers to store clothes, only a narrow wardrobe with three coat hangers; the floor was oddly uneven, not in a charming way. - The desk was so small that it could hardly accommodate a laptop. - The TV remote was taped together and didn't work well, and there was no channel listing for orientation. - There was no in-room list of instructions about my stay, including Wifi and checkout times.
My room and the other facilities were clean. Bedsheets and towels were clean. No nasty smells. Conversations with the owners/staff were pleasant. When the noisy neighbors were not active in the hallway, the room was quiet.

GermanyMany small maintenance is recommended to make the room and the bathroom more comfortable. No comfort to be expected for the shared shower.
Location is excellent to be next to the main beach and main beach clubs. There is a tram coming from The Hague just 2 min walking from the hotel.
