Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe stairs to the flat are a little steep but they are very old properties so couldn't be helped just be aware! the flat could do with a little TLC in places
The flat was very well equipped and comfortable in beautiful surroundings, the staff were very friendly and the parking (additional cost) was great, one minute walk from flat undercover and secure. Photo is the view outside the hotel,

MexicoIn spite of the unique layout of my room, distinguished by its captivating aqua-green hue, the absence of a dedicated desk, as well as the occasional chilliness in the evenings despite adjustments to the room temperature, were slight inconveniences that could have been only due to my profile as a solo traveler (and also that the room is only 10m2, as it is specified in the info). About the lack of elevator, they offer staff help for that specific task in case you have heavy baggage. However, these inconveniences were eclipsed by the enduring charm and impeccable service offered by the establishment.
Nestled in the heart of Leiden, the Huys van Leyden hotel offered me a captivating blend of historical elegance and modern comfort. Impeccably preserved, it boasts charming décor and a genuinely warm staff. (I had the opportunity to meet Bonnie, who was the epitome of professionalism, she enhanced my experience with her gracious assistance and her beyond and above patience and kindness with all my inquiries.) In general, the rooms are equipped with modern amenities, from electronic keys to customizable lighting. The sleek bathrooms add a touch of minimalist luxury. I believe that this hotel is ideal for history and architecture enthusiasts, as it exudes a vintage charm that transports you to another era. In essence, this hotel provides an enchanting sanctuary for travelers in search of a harmonious fusion of historical allure and contemporary conveniences—except for the elevator which they mention in the info, but all within an ambiance of timeless elegance.

We were visiting the Keukenhof..Just a short stroll into the centre of lovely Leiden. A truly lovely independent hotel

United KingdomThe beds were very narrow, it was a little hard to turn over without falling out. Some of us stayed in the Loft which has lots of space but the wind and rain is noisy (ear plugs were kindly provided). Breakfast was very cute, served on 'high tea' style stacked plates, though no hot options offered as I'd read in the descriptions (maybe because it was Christmas eve?) which made it an expensive choice.
The location is lovely and it is convenient to walk into town. Parking garage was very nearby (though very narrow, sadly our car was scratched badly). The breakfast room was very pretty and nicely decorated for Christmas.

GermanyThe fact that it's a historical building has its disadvantages in the form of very steep stairs, with which we got acquainted intimately, as our room was on the top floor.
Visually the room and the hotel itself were a marvel. Chandeliers, paintings, wooden floors, you could practically feel the history. The staff was very nice and helpful and we had a lovely view of the canal.

LuxembourgThe weather in November ;) but finally it did not matter so much because the town is full of cosy cafes and bars to escape rain showers. We will return in summertime. Our hotel room was rather small but it is understandable in an old canal house with limited space.
Very kind service, a lovely reception and breakfast room. Everything was very clean. We loved the location by the canal and close (within walking distance) to the center. It was great to stay in a real canal house. First morning the breakfast was incredibly good and rich, rarely seem anything like it. The second morning the way they served it changed and it was less spectacular but still perfectly sufficient and very good. Leiden was even more charming we expected, and the old town area is surprisingly large and well preserved.

GermanySecond time I accommodated myself here in this fine hotel which has very nice, comfortable rooms (perfect beds!) designed in the spirit of the Dutch's Golden Age. Upon arrival I was offered a free drink during check-inn, much appreciated! Perfectly situated close to the historical centre of Leiden. Very, very kind multi-langue staff helping with everyday problems of travellers (in my case: a.o. I had to have my car parked in the hotel's parking house a few hours longer than checkout / than I had rented the room - it was not a big issue). Highly recommended! Thanks a lot & keep up this very customer-friendly way which is difficult to find these very days! See you soon/next time! In any case, our 12 points ... from Germany ... go to ... the Netherlands! Best wishes to Leiden from Berlin

United KingdomSome niggles that are fixable. Firstly the drainage of water from the bathroom was very slow - I am glad we did not use the washing machine as I would worry it would not empty. The shower tray filled up and didn't drain which was a worry for flooding - it may have been a simple blockage. The furnishing was very luxurious but there were some practical touches missing - the main bedroom had room for a wardrobe/chest of drawers but all clothes had to be stored in the smaller bedroom and there were only 2 hangers in the cupboard. The second bedroom felt like a bit of an afterthought - kitted out for a small child with the basics but not really a full second bedroom although there was the space to make it one. None of these were catastrophic and, as I said, probabaly easily fixable. I did report the water drainage problem and was assured it would be fixed so I think it must have been a temporary issue.
Very spacious. We had the apartment and it was great to have so much space. The lounge and kitchen/diner and main bedroom were very comfortable. It was quiet and the bonus outdoor terrace was incredible - I would have liked to staty longer. Very helpful staff
