All good, just don't stub your toes on the threshold to the bathroom ;-) !

The location is fantastic, the apartment compact and comfortable, beautiful view over the canal. Totally central, but peaceful and quiet at night. Can self-cater or use all the lovely cafes and restaurants on the doorstep.

Living like a local in Lovely Leiden

For a visitor, it is worth noting that the apartment is a very compact L shape and the stairs up to it, are exceptionally steep. Not a criticism as it is a lovely old traditional house and Dutch stairs are usually like this! There is no microwave or TV - again, not a criticism, just an observation for other travellers. Very little storage if you have much luggage but it's possible to find a, work around. Not much space for clothes either - one small handing rail with a shelf underneath but again, it didn't detract form a, wonderful stay and if we had left the bed as a double (the host split the beds into 2 singles as I was travelling with my mother) the bedroom would have had a better space 😊

Location couldn't have been better! Leiden is a beautiful city with a thriving market and this accommodation is right in the middle of it. It was lovely to hear the clock chiming and the bells ringing. The host was very helpful and friendly. The apartment was clean and comfortable and an absolute pleasure to stay in with many traditional features such as the, lovely light fittings. The facilities were excellent - we had a private patio, lovely shower, well equipped kitchen, with an electric hob, air fryer and toaster, free WiFi, and comfortable beds. Dyson hot&cool fan which was lovely, Seperate toilet and shower which is useful. There was a, lovely feel to the place and it really helped make our trip wonderful. It was great being able to just live in the middle of Leiden for a few days.

The bedroom is very tight in the terrace appt. But we got use to it quickly. We had small suitcases, so no problem. Might be a little different if you use big cases.

Loved having the terrace to relax on. Nice small kitchen area, with stovetop and air fryer. Right in the center of town. Sat on the canal in the evenings. Hearing the bells and music from the church, but did not keep us awake. Actually slept very well. Their daughter is a lovely piano player,( Thanks for the short little recitals once in a while) The Wed. and Sat. market was right infront of the appt.

soundproof walls mentioned in the ad is not correct. You just get woken up at 7AM by the church bells that are nearby the house. Felt that bed could be higher quality than 2 simple beds (matress/bedspring is the same) TV is mentioned in the ad but not available - appeared a bit strange

location is really nice at the heart of Leyden small house for 2 that is independant from the hosts house few nice recommendations on where to do the groceries, etc. by the host functional kitchen & nicely furnished with a fridge - perfect if you want to cook lunch/dinner

Very small tight fit apartment, but one do not need more when you explore (only need bed 😊)

Excellent location - on the canals in centrum (although we had the terrace apartment) Equipt apartment with everything you need. Street market located on other side of canal

The place is being renovated, which was not really a problem, but the space is very small. For people who don't know older Dutch houses - be prepared to walk up one floor on rather narrow and very steep stairs. We are fit and didn't mind, others might find it challenging.

The location is excellent, the hosts very friendly and helpful.

The canal facing room is extremely noisy. The windows are not insulated at all, one sheet of glass, old wooden frame with gaps. We were prepared and have ear plugs with us. At summer it can be extremely warm. No microwave and no TV as opposite as listed. No tea mugs.

Excellent location. The location is directly in the city center, next to the canal and many restaurants and bars. It has air fryer and coffee machine and an induction cooking plate.

The accommodation is probably not suitable for those who need to use an elevator.

The shower and kitchen facilities were new. It seemed very friendly for those traveling on a budget. The location is great, right at the center of Leiden City Center. The steep stairs up to the first floor reminded me of Anne Frank's house. The heating was on the low side, but there was a room heater.

I had to park on the outskirts of town at a park and ride (which was free!) because there was no parking at the property and nearby parking was about €2 per hour. The location is excellent for walking around downtown- if you are sensitive to noise bring some earplugs because the street noise might keep you awake at night. It’s not accessible for people with mobility issues as there is quite a steep staircase leading up to the room.

I had a great view of the river and was right downtown. The price in comparison to hotels downtown was much more reasonable. There was a great market across the street called the Pitstop with delicious sandwiches, salads and breakfast options. The bathroom is newly renovated, the bed is comfortable and the whole place was clean.

Owners explained that the entrance area will be completed. Was a bit hard to find at first, but with the planned modifications should be perfectly fine.

New apartment, totally central, brand new, very nice hosts, would have been nice to spend a longer period there. Kitchen fully equipped (had no time to do much there), WLAN fast, bed adequate

    - Many facilities listed in the advertisement are not present (wardrobe, TV, sound isolation, dining table). - Hosts live in the apartment above and do not behave as if they're hosting guests (playing piano at 11 p.m., screaming on the stairs in the morning, non-communicated remodelling work in the house). - There is no privacy, as only one window has a curtain that darkens completely and the other window is covered by a see-through curtain. - The room contains random possessions of the owner, such as an old computer, a closet full of Christmas items, another closet full of old electronica. (To be fair, if they were to empty these, one could indeed say there is a wardrobe...) - Beds and bathroom were not super clean, I had to clean the shower head myself to get water out of it and the towels smelled of cigarette smoke. To summarise: The costs vs. what is offered is not in proportion. Yes, the location is amazing, but Leiden is very small. If you were to stay at the edge of the city center (15 min walking distance) you can book a much cheaper more luxurious hotel. For this price I was expecting at least a clean and tidy apartment. Perhaps if the owner would reduce the price, it could be reconsidered as the location is indeed in the heart of the center.

    - The kitchen is well stocked. - An electric heater is available. - The location.

There was no information on how to enter the building and on the payment process. Communication was pretty bad. There is no working place or desk in the room if you want to work there. Really noisy since it is in the city center. Really steep stairs to enter the room.

Really nice location in the middle of the beautiful city Leiden. Everything close by. Really friendly woman for welcome

The apartment was very tiny - a third of the total area was dedicated to a terrace that shares a wall with, and faces the building next to it. The bedroom was very tiny as well- two single beds left about a foot of space on either side. The heating failed inexplicably a couple of nights, and the Dyson heater/fan the host helpfully provided was the only saving grace.

The apartment is in a very good location in the center of the city. It opens right next to the main shopping street and has a bunch of restaurants right next to it.

Even though you know what living in the middle of the town means, it was a bit noicy place. I missed a place/hook to put my coat and some other important clothes to hang.

I stayed in the canal view apartment. It was in a perfect location, clean and cozy small room with a bathroom and a small kitchen corner. Pauline welcomed me personally.

The room had humidity inside, the bed was not very comfortable and the sheets were old, while the duvet was small size and there was only one pillow. When cooking there was no steam absorption and as a result the fire alarm went on while I was boiling pasta. There was not much oil left for the guest or pepper.

Clean, renovated, there was an air heater that created better atmosphere. The host was very friendly and cooperative about my late arrival, which happened due to plane’s delay. He also gave me a second duvet when I asked him.
