Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt felt like one of these self catering places that has a kitchenette but is not actually meant to be cooked in. The cooking stuff was basic (1 pot, 1 frying pan, 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 sets of cutlery, a chopping knife and board and a spoon for cooking), coffee/ tea cups were provided but no kettle. An example of it not feeling like it was meant to be cooked in was when the fuses tripped just when we cooked porridge on the hob in the morning (which turned off the fridge and hob- luckily we were on our last day so only lost some ice lollies that defrosted). The fuses were in our room so once reception told us we could sort it easily at least. Also the bathroom had a door that didn't come down to the floor so there was a gap, which is not what you want for various reasons- luckily the vents worked well! The sink also drains very very slowly.
It's a light airy space which is nice to be in. We came at a hot time and the windows open enough to let a good airflow in and kept the room cool which was good. It was clean and felt secure (you need your key card to access the lift, guest entrance etc)- though we've found Norway very safe anyway. It also has a fridge and freezer section which was useful, and the bathroom is also a good size. The location is not super central but it's easy to get around with public transport and it's in a nice neighborhood (Grünerløkka) so is a nice opportunity to see outside of the places where all the tourists go.

IrelandWe had to make two bookings because of room availability when we decided to extend our stay and went with the 'budget' private double for our last two days. If you can I would recommend staying with the 'standard' room even if you're on a budget. Not having utensils in the kitchen as with our initial booking was frustrating and having our bed be two twins pushed together was frustrating as we kept falling through the middle.
Check in was easy with the machines, our standard room was large, comfortable for two people for two days, and came equipt with kitchen supplies. The room was very quiet and we saw few other guests. It is a budget hotel so we got what we expected, we stayed here about 8 years ago and were surprised to find the entire lobby had been nicely renovated and there is a large and convenient Kiwi now (I believe it used to be a Joker). We travelled for work but love the neighbourhood and the hotel is nicely situated close to where there are beautiful parks, nice bars, and fun second hand shopping.

NorwayThe room had a small kitchen with a fridge and a stove, but the funny thing was that there were no dishes, not even a cup. What is the purpose of having a kitchen that no one can actually use? There was no hairdryer in the room. People downstairs were partying half of the night. The mattress was poor. There were only a few sockets, and of course, none of them were close to the bed. Quite disappointed.
Good location, clean room, enough towels. Shop is really close.

United KingdomThe fact it said you couldn't use the machine to pick up the keys after 2:30 and the listing on booking.com had said that it was a 24 hour reception. We arrived in time but I had just read the 24 hour thing on the airport bus. The whole place did have a kind of weird sterile vibe like it was a converted hospital but it was fine.
I liked using the machine to pick up the keys as we arrived at 1am, though it was a bit misleading that they called it a 24 hour recption. The room was clean and good value, it had everything we needed and in a cool neighbourhood not far from the centre.

LithuaniaThere could be at least some shelfs in the room. There were a lot of space in the room, but no place to put your things but on the bed, dining table or just on the ground…
Nothing fancy, but all you basicaly need if you are staying overnight or for a couple of days. We had a separate room with a small kitchenete, so we could prepare our food “at home”. A big plus in such an expesive city like Oslo :).

New ZealandSome nice additions would potentially be a kettle and toaster. Also found the bathroom curtain a bit hard to use, it was hard to keep the bathroom dry.
Had everything we needed - bathroom, kitchen, washing machine. Very functional space. Heated bathroom was lovely and the whole room was nice and warm.

PolandSmells of bleach (or some other chemicals) in the corridors, checking out at 4 am is a bit tricky (locating the mailbox).
Nice and clean, good to have a stove in the room. Would be great to have a kettle in the room. There is a shop just outside, open from 5-23 so that is a big advantage. Floor in the bathroom is very warm, so it was pretty nice in the winter. Room for 2 people is really big with huge windows beds and pillows were really comfortable.

SpainA chocolate mint on the table? Maybe a little side table by the bed for water and a phone.
The Anker Apartments exceeded my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so clean, quiet and comfortable after reading some less than positive reviews. Maybe the shared hostel rooms with multiple beds are not as nice, but my "budget double room" was perfectly acceptable. It was no frills (other than the heated bathroom floor 👍) so no maid or room service, mini bar or anything like that, but a fully equipped kitchenette (glad I brought my moka pot to make coffee), clean sheets and towels, excellent shower, good climate control, and a grocery store downstairs. And as I said VERY clean and quiet, and painted a restful shade, not all white like the rather institutional hallways. Checkin and out was very easy, and the two staff I spoke to were very kind and helpful. For the price of one night in a fancy hotel in the center I had five nights of rest and a space to get some work done or have a light meal when not out exploring the city or attending my conference. Also, the Grünerløkka neighborhood is very nice, sort of hipster with many cafes, parks, shops and bars, and public transportation from the hostel to any point in the city was easy to navigate. As I said, all expectations were exceeded!

EstoniaRelated to the same situation, just the solution wasnt the best that was given, it was either that I need to go the other Anker Hotel, which was not so close, or either I cant leave the room until 10 in the morning, since it was super Late anyways, I didnt care much and went to sleep anyways, but there should be some better solution when something like this happens because who wants to travel at night so much back and forth.
I liked that when I arrived after the reception hours, and tried to self check in, then the machine didnt give me the room keycards, and the staff was really quick to help with this situation and they sent the security guy to let me and another group of people into our Rooms. 5+ to the security guy Also, unfortunately I didnt remember his name. In the morning I got the room keycards very quickly from the reception.
