How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The property is EXCEPTIONAL, not only that it’s value for money, it really gives you a homey feelings like you were staying with your family that takes the best care of you! I’ve been here for time and I would definitely come back next time I’m in Faro. BEST!

We were in room nine and it unfortunately smells of cat urine and the area was not what we expected.
The staff was very friendly and it was easy to check in.

The hot water would go in/out during showers
We were immediately greeted by Carlos who manages the property. While our check-in was not until 3pm, Carlos had our room available upon our arrival around 1:30pm. The entire facility felt like a home. It was clean, cozy, and comfortable. We also partook in the complimentary breakfast that is served every morning in the dining area. While we did not get to sit down for breakfast, there was a great assortment of bread/spreads, fruit, pastries like pastel de nata, and coffee of course! The wifi was speedy and everyone we interacted with was so friendly. Would 100% stay here again.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
An amazing welcome & comfortable stay. A wonderful surprise when we had breakfast ready for us every morning. We didn’t miss not having our own bathroom. We loved every minute thank you so much.

Room was cold and smelled musty/damp. No extra blankets provided. I was on the side of the garden so could hear the dogs barking at night. Full kitchen provided but you are discouraged from using it to cook.
Good value homely guesthouse. Close to centre but quiet. WiFi worked well. Nice kitchen/dining area and small living room with balcony. Breakfast was appreciated. Friendly hosts. Great to be able to leave luggage.

The noise from the road was pretty loud even though the guest house is on a small road. Lots of cars or loud people in the night.
Very charming place with a lot of care for detail. Very clean. Really friendly staff. The location is great, easy to get to with or without a car. Even though I usually do not like shared bathrooms, it was not a problem at all. It was clean, there are not too many rooms/guests to share the bathrooms with. The other travellers were respectful and quiet and it felt like a good place to be.

Everything! The most surprise was the breakfast set up in the kitchen. Fresh bread in the morning and some continental breakfast. Beautiful garden in the backyard, however, I did not have the opportunity to go there.

Really friendly man (and his spaniel😁)whoruns the hotel, it’s incredibly clean and the bedrooms were lovely. The whole place is so nicely decorated and you can tell the owners have put a lot of effort into it. The balcony was lovely off our room too and it was appreciated to have aircon. Breakfast was delicious, a shame we had to rush off to the airport! The location was great, outside of the old town but in an interesting residential area, a nice short wander to the restaurants and old town. The only thing I’d change is I wish we’d stayed another night.

Sometimes the staff seems cold, we never talk to the real host.
Nice place, well equipped, practical to have free breakfast. Well located, a bit less than 15min by walk to reach the city centre.
