How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Sound proofing - you can hear everything going on inside the building through the room's door. Staff and customer conversations woke us up early one morning. Terrace in photos not really part of the facilities, seems like it's just for show. Didn't manage to get personal recommendations or homely vibes from manager / owner.
Interior design was beautiful. Location good. Staff friendly.

Not much I didn't like! It was a tiny bit away from the old town, but only a 12 minute walk. So still very close, unless you want to be right in the center of it all. I found everything to be so charming.
The People!!! Wow, just from the moment you walk in, the staff is just so warm and welcoming. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel at home, and they create such a warm and family type atmosphere. At breakfast, you have a chance to bond with the other guests and it's a wonderful experience. Also, their AC is super strong in summer! I really loved it!

We arrived and Raquel and his father we're waiting for us. They explained there was a mistake with our room and they offered two better options instead. We choose one of the suites with bathroom inside. Really nice bedroom, with a small coffee/tee area and fridge inside. Everything was really nice decorated and comfortable. The house/hotel has a really familiar and "home" feeling, and you get a small breakfast on the big kitchen. There's also a fridge, and coffee/tea always available. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay and appreciated the recommendations for restaurants and some sight seeing spots given by the host. The room was cosy and clean and we were offered a delicious free breakfast :).

Walls are very thin and I couldn’t sleep very well at all which is the purpose of booking a stay somewhere. I owner is very nice but my comfort at night was not good at all if I can’t sleep!

The room was a bit underwhelming and small, it would have been a bit of a squeeze if there were 2 people staying there. Bunk bed was very squeaky. Feel like I did not get what was advertised, but I can only assume that there was a different type of the room that wasn't available at the time.
Nice and simple guesthouse, shared bathroom was never a problem. Breakfast is a lovely bonus, even though I left before it would start on both days of my stay. Location is a short walk to the city centre and bus/train station, so no problem there. Raquel is a lovely host who makes sure that you are comfortable during your stay.

Super strong/intense (perfumed) smell and not good working Air con in room number 5 (the other rooms we were able to have a look at were without smell and looked a lot nicer) Breakfast was medium

Bed was terrible. It creaked with every movement and made it impossible to sleep properly.
Room and shared bathroom was clean, stuff also very nice and helpfull.

Stayed 2 days ,never met any staff , there was no cleaning done. Bathroom had mould in shower and sink. Sink leaked on floor. I had to clean it myself . Most expensive place in Portugal I Stayed worst experience

We had only one night stay at this place, we didnt find any issues for such a place and price. Maybe we couldn't find more savoury options for the breakfast (included in price) but we don't think this was a problem...
Room, even not big, was cosy (for couple) and whole property looked cosy and clean too. Some rooms and common areas were nicely decorated, and breafast was a nice surprise. The location is reasonable and can be accessed by walk from the center. We had no problem to enter with codes (and keys).

Terrible check in reception. No key and no one showed up.
The location, the room and the breakfast was really good. However when we arrived at midnight there’s no way to check in. The host did not make sure there’s a key in the locker for us. Therefore we had to wait and keep knocking on the door and ringing the bell. It’s other tenants woken by us let us in.

the rooms were too noisy especially the door knobs. Therefore, there are dogs barking all night long and doesn’t let you sleep at all.
