How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Unfortunately, we had to change the hotel because the next-door neighbor who we by accident had a chat with started threatening us. We felt very unsafe to the point where we would fly back. He would come to our rooms unannounced and it made us very uncomfortable we changed hotels. Advice: don't talk to the right side neighbor.
The staff was very friendly! The girl who did the reception was so nice and the boy who helped around was just fantastic! Exceptional work! The hotel is located at a very nice location with lots of local restaurants and such. Would 100% recommend and stay there again.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
This place is a dream. The staff are so kind, the location is fantastic, the rate is exceptional. This is the only place I will ever stay in Mae Sot.

The room is very spacious with a fridge and places to sit to eat or do some work. The bed is comfy and there is air conditioning to ensure you stay cool. Very helpful and friendly staff.

It's a budget location, so no good views of Mae Sot. But Mae Sot isn't that great of a town for views. It's close to shops and not far from the centre of town, so easy enough to get around. Good value for money. Good place for a short stay.
A very nice, pleasant and capable host. A charming fellow. Everything was as described. It was an easy stay - and I stayed for two weeks. Bicycle was borrowed easily and the scooter to rent worked fine. Clean room and cleaned daily (as you request). The downstairs rooms are okay for a short stay, but they lack windows onto light - but okay for the price. Nearby (15 mins stroll on foot) are a few Myanmar-run and Thai-run restaurants.

The bed is very hard, and the furniture in the room not to comfortable.
Staff is wonderful, they weigh up for a lot and make this place worth staying at after all. The room was spacious and clean.

I stayed so often at Retro and it is difficult to come across this value for money in MS. the staff is kind and the rooms are big with all you need.

This is a lovely place where I stayed often and it is one of the best quality for this price in Mae sot. The owner and staff are very nice and they will help you with what you need

Nothing big, but I suggest that the room should have more than 2 waste bins (at least 1 at the table and 1 in the toilet). My room got only 1.
They let me check-in early which I really appreciated due to we had a long drive to get there. They also provide free sandwich, coffee, banana and biscuit for us at the lobby. Such a lovely and thoughtful service. Highly recommended!!

Our room was very spacious, bright and everything was really clean! We could rent a scooter directly there for 200 thb / 24 hours. The owner is very friendly and welcoming! You got free water, coffee, bananas and cookies all day long and the breakfast was very delicious.

Family run, friendly relaxed and safe, there are some communal areas, use of a bike for free was brilliant I had lots of fun exploring. Really big room.

Retro Twin Home feels like an actual home. I stayed at the hotel for several weeks and I loved it. The manager and the staff are very friendly and always ready to help you. The rooms are clean and extremely comfortable. You can also rent a motorbike to move around the city. Plus, the hotel's food is delicious and cheap. Perfect location in Mae Sot, with many restaurants, Seven eleven, and shops within 5 minutes walk. Excellent place for both short and long stay. I would definitely come back soon. Highly recommend!

No bicycles or breakfast were available and although the staff were friendly, the reception desk was often empty. The rooms facing the road also have traffic noises at night.
The room was spacious and clean and the price was reasonable; it was also in a nice location.
