How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The highest quality services, the excellent accommodation conditions, the fabulous breakfast, but above all the care and kindness with which the hotel staff surrounded us, made the stay at Hotel Poem an unforgettable memory. We will definitely come back!

This was our second stay at Poem and I can say again that it is a great hotel to stay, with very nice staff, awesome breakfast and sharp clean rooms. All the decorations , both inside and outside the hotel are very original and made in good taste. For sure we will stay again, when we will return to Istanbul.

Greatest location, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque in 5 minutes walk. Friendly staff, breakfast was amazing. In organization of programs they were very helpful. Hotel is really cosy.

The hotel in front has a very loud AC, we were able to sleep without any issue but if you are sensitive to noise this could be an issue because you can hear it even with the closed window
Everything was a 10/10 Never had such a good room cleaning, they cleaned every day as if someone new was coming to the room! Above excellent breakfast and everyone is really friendly and helpful

Nothing really. Everything was great.
Location is perfect for Sultanahmet area. Clean and stylish hotel. Bright and spacious room with a sea view. Very professional and friendly staff. We were especially impressed by the breakfasts which turned out to be the best meals during our stay in Istanbul.

For the great reviews and higher price compared to other hotels we expected a little more luxury, but overall had a great stay and would recommend.
This was a great little hotel in the middle of a great neighborhood with many restaurant and walking distance to many historic locations. The breakfast was good and rooms were comfortable.

DOUBLE BED IS QUITE NARROW FOR 2 (140 cm wide only). But we also hd the last and probably smallest room.
LOCATION, STAFF AND ATMOSPHERE ARE GREAT. WOULD GO BACK AGAIN. BREAKFAST IS AMAZING.

this is a wonderful boutique hotel.. the staff are attentive and delightful… the amenities excellent… and the breakfast is beyond delicious and plentiful… I really like the location… 5 min walk to Sultanahmet square, 10 min to tram stop, but tucked away on quiet street… extended my stay

Nothing really stands out as a negative
The breakfast was exceptional, with many small dishes to choose from (all served to the table) and a bit of variety each day. The service was very friendly, and the breakfast was available up until 11am, so good even for late sleepers! The hotel staff were all very kind and professional. Special thanks for Arjan, who made us feel very welcome when we arrived at the hotel, taking our bags to the room and giving us a little tour of the hotel, breakfast area, room features etc.
