A lovely atmospheric little place, good bars and restaurants and some pleasant little local shops and craftspeople. Wonderful views. You can visit the Papal Palace and Gardens as well as the Art Gallery and Museum of Art.

Nice place to stay out of Rome, but not too far (about 40 min by car to the centre). Close to nature, Albano lake is within the half an hour walk down the hill. There is access to the beach with a restaurant and a bar (and a parking lot) where you can rent a chair. Parking can be little tricky in this town with narrow streets. Some wide cars might not fit the most narrow streets which are also one-way. Ciampino airport is 25 min away by car. Also reachable by trainMaiaEstonia - 8.0Scored 8.0

Castel Gandolfo is a beautiful town. The Pope's palace isn't much to see inside but it has miles of gorgeous gardens and views. The pine trees are some of the healthiest I have seen in Italy. The food is amazing. We frequented La Papessa and Pagnanelli - we'd go back just to eat some more.KristinUnited States - 10Scored 10

It is a small town but we’ve done all the biggies and wanted a smaller town. Lots of restaurants for a small town but that’s probably because of the day trippers from Rome. Also Romans go there on weekends to escape the crowds of the city, especially this year because there are so many more tourists according to the locals and the food is really good. Some restaurants you might want to consider, Sor Capanna, great pizza, and pasta with boar sauce. Cumin Arte, they offer other things but this is definitely seafood oriented, great mussels and seafood options. Hosteria Fraschetta, we ate there a couple of times, the food is that good, a little bright inside but everyone was enjoying themselves one cool, rainy night. After the last bar had closed and the neighbors turned to bed the village was totally silent. Very fast WiFi. Italian breakfast at the café (coffee and cornetto). We spend the afternoon in Rome, train to Termini 45 minutes. Steep climbing from train station to castel. Tap water good, this water the ancient Romans used for their baths already!
