The breakfast was not the traditional Mediterranean style (just coffee and a croissant) but there were several items available, including boiled eggs, ham, cheese, jogurth, fruits. It was very sufficient, and the breakfast room was nice. The hotel was quite small, so there was no crowding in the reception. The location was just exellent for our purposes. It was next to the Theatre La Fenice which was our main target this time. As a matter of fact, from the window of our door, we had a view to the wall of the Theatre and the sfaff entrance was just in front of us. We heard the rehearsals also to our room, which was quite amusing. The room was pretty large, and there was even a real dressing room, not a clothes cupboard. A charming place, indeed. Plenty of paintings on the walls.

Venice is a beautiful city with lots to see, but it was completely overrun with tourists, and we were not even there in the busiest months! Public transportation was a nightmare. We will probably never return which is sad because we did not get to experience all of Venice.

This is one of the most romantic cities on the planet.
This is one of the most romantic cities on the planet. I will never get sick of coming here, nor get tired of endlessly wandering its narrow meandering alleyways and canals. There will always be more to do and see in Venezia than there will be time for.

Venice is a wonderful, beautiful, and unique city, but you need to accept it on its own terms. It's a city of canals and narrow alleys, all of necessity. You travel mostly by boat and then walk through narrow but fascinating narrow lanes with surprises at every turn.
I highly recommend avoiding Venice, and the crowds, between mid-May and mid-October. The crowds at the major locations are intense, and it can be hot in the summer. We made a previous visit in mid-April a few years ago, and it was delightful (although we were lucky to have no rain). We'll visit again if we can.

I've always loved Venice; as an older person, I was content to just walk but my young adult children were frustrated with the lack of places to go in the evening and general lack of nightlife. Even St Marco square was dead when it got dark. No music or dancing to be found.

This was our 2nd trip to Venice.
This was our 2nd trip to Venice. We love the beauty of it all; the views, the food, the history - all great. I highly recommend it for those who can manage lots of people, hustle-bustle, and lots of walking (up and down over bridges). We walked 6-8 miles each day of our trip (we went off the beaten path alot)! I highly recommend the Gondoliers in red stripped shirts, the ones you book on the spot, over the “included in your bigger your” type. We did both this time and the “on-the-spot” one was 100% better. The gondolier was so much nicer, carried in conversation, spoke of history, etc. The food was excellent this time, fairly priced too. Those who have heard that tipping is not necessary - this is no longer true everywhere - please be prepared! Highly recommended are: Trattoria Alla Madellena, Gino’s, and the Irish Pub! All are in the Main Street of Venice. Each restaurant provided great service and even better food!

Please please please do not stay here.
Please please please do not stay here. Save yourself the trouble and stay literally anywhere else. This place is disgusting, the rooms you see in the pictures are not accurate. The only dorm option they have are 16 beds.
During our stay, they moved our stuff from or beds (!) without our permission while we were out in the city. When we got back, we were told to move to the top bunks on the third floor which were covered with gross debris from the disintegrating ceiling. No other option was given and we had to leave and find a place to stay for the night. I had to call the venice police to come help.
It doesn't matter what you booked, you will be staying in a non-air-conditioned room with 15 other people. I know it says there is air conditioning in the posting: that is a blatant lie. They will take your money and tell you there is nothing to be done. The owners are liars who have no concern for your well-being.
Thanks for reading if you stuck around this long. I hope you heed my warning. If you don't, good luck! Hope your experience is better than ours was
My second stay was at the Le Isole Hotel in Venice. Amazing breakfast (maybe even the best you can get in hotels in all of Italy of hotels of 3-star level), cleaning services, and very kind staff. The hotel is just in the center of Venice, a few steps from St Marco and it is super easy to get to the airport and back with the ferry which goes from the Venice airport because the station is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. Very calm, even if it's in the center, with clean rooms and good room service. I will be back again for sure!
Mostly the value for money in a place like Venice. It's far from the most luxurious place you'll stay in and it's also a decent walk to the main attractions, but you really do get what you pay for. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom served it's purpose, although the shower was a bit small. Hot water was consistent the whole time which is a huge bonus for budget hotels in Italy. The artwork on the walls was a nice touch too. A great place to stay if you're on a budget and don't mind walking a bit.
This was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our Trip to Italy. You can't beat the location of Bauer Palazzo. The lobby is right in front of all the designer shopping in Venice but also in tucked away enough that the foot traffic isn't too heavy in front of the hotel. The hotel bar is right on the Grande Canal so we enjoyed having a cocktail out there before dinner. The room was very spacious (particularly for a hotel room in Italy). It is also a very short walk to St. Mark's Square.
The hotel was in a good location near St. Mark's Square but not in the middle of it, so there was not a lot of outside noise from the tourists. It had air conditioning which was fantastic, as places in Italy, sometimes do not. There was a nice variety of food and drinks for breakfast. The staff was friendly and very helpful when it came to finding our way around and which ferry/boat to take to get to different places. All in all, a good stay at Domus Ciliota.
This was the most polished and professional location we rented in the 6 cities in Italy that we visited. It's a beautiful and spacious apartment like suite with very modern amenities. The keycard for entering was super easy and made the final stretch of our visit simple and pleasant. The host was available to help and provide guidance on visiting Venice during our visit and was super friendly. We would absolutely stay here the next time we visit Venice!
I recently stayed at Ca' Dei Leoni in Venice, Italy, and it was an absolute delight. The man at reception went above and beyond to make our stay a breeze. He was very accommodating (we needed an early breakfast on our day of departure) and his helpful recommendations made our trip even more memorable. The hotel's charming ambience and good location (just off one of the main routes through the city) made it a fantastic choice. I would visit again.
Very surprised with this hotel. The room was maybe a bit small, but really stylish. The best is the hotels garden where you can chill and have some coffee or wine at the bar for a good price. Staff is very friendly and they serve the best best breakfast! Not just cakes and sweets but also scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese, ...., very unusual in Italy. The place is calm even if it is just next to the very popular bridge Ponte dell'Accademia.
I loved the location as we could either walk to everywhere in Venice from here or take the vaporeto as it was close to several stops. And we loved the apt itself, it had so many windows so loads of natural lighting, plus the bathroom was modern and comfortable (rare find in Italy). One of the few to provide so many toiletries, the host really outdid herself in order to ensure we were comfortable.
Very nice and quiet location. Ideal for exploring Venice and jumping into the life of a local. A true Venetian neighbourhood.
The owners are lucky to have such a host like Fabio in the Locanda. He makes your stay feel like home. Open for any questions and giving advice. Because of him and the personal touch this was one of the best hotel/b&b experiences in Italy for us.
located in the not so crowded area of Venice. In my opinion one of the best places to stay, especially as the hotel is 2 min away from the bus stop. I suggest to park the car at Venice city park (5.5€/24h) and use the bus return ticked (3€, 10 min) to enter Venice. Much more relaxed and cheaper than the parking places nearby. you also get FOC water on the room.
We like the location so close to train station. Everything in venice are within walking distances, so the further we have to walk is to the piazza san marco. Which the walk itself is a pleasant experience. In the morning breakfast room we can have coffee of choice and small packed bread which are common in italy. Also staff are all friendly
Hotel have a fully furnished appartment which have everything you need, Family friend appartment, Venice or Venezia in Italy is a lovely island, Night time is amazing, Hotel located in front of the ocean where you can see Boats and Gondola rides, Shops, Museums, restaurants and walk area are all very close
Food is amazing
It was big and the people were extremely nice and helpful, and quick to respond. It felt more homey than a hotel, and very private as well. I went with family but it would be a great place for a couple as well. I visited a few places in Italy and this was my favorite spot so far.
Beautiful stay in Venice! We had a room overlooking the canal and it was breathtakingly beautiful. The hotel is located in a good spot, close to everything. The breakfast is delicious and has a lot of variety. Room is small but that’s to be expected in Italy.
Fantastic location in Venice, my favourite hotel out of our 2 weeks in italy. Really big space with perfect air con. Loved the location for exploring Venice.
Staff were very friendly and thought the price was super for a touristy spot in August. Fab!
the breakfast was great, everything you need is given, Really the best one we had in Italy
the rooms are very clean
we can absolutely recommend the hotel
the station for the vaparetto is directly in front of the hotel
Location and hotel staff. The owner’s Father was absolutely wonderful - gave lots of great recommendations for my trip in Italy and also in Venice. The room was large, comfortablw and clean - perfect.
Excellent location, excellent breakfast, super friendly and supportive staff.
Super nice top terrace with 360 view.
Best value for money hotel in Italy so far.
