The Glamorous Parisian Riviera
The fashionable Normandy resort of Deauville is famed for its international film festival that attracts worldwide celebrities. The most famous names from the silver screen are immortalised on the entrances to changing rooms lining the wooden, beachfront boardwalk – the Promenade des Planches.
The beach itself is a long stretch of golden sand overlooked by exclusive residences, luxury hotels and the chic casino which is most spectacular at night. As you would expect of such a resort, Deauville also has a golf course, marina housing fancy yachts, and a racecourse. Some of France’s largest horse training facilities are here, and the surrounding area is full of thoroughbred studs.
One of these was once owned by the Strassburger family who lived in one of Deauville’s most beautiful houses – the Villa Strassburger. Its half-timbered elements and multi-angled roof are typical of the town’s architecture. Other similar examples include boutique shops and the Hotel Normandy, a historic property now owned by the Barrière group who also run the elegant Hotel Royal overlooking a seafront park.
In addition to these 5-star hotels, Booking.com offers holiday homes near Deauville Airport, and cheap apartments by the train station which also serves the Parisian Riviera town of Trouville across the River Touques.

I have stayed in Deauville before - this time it was just a stopover on my way to LeHavre. Deauville is very attractive with a massive beach, good shops and beautiful architecture. A beautiful, very upmarket seaside resort. If you are going to get run over in Deauville, it will probably be by a Ferrari or an Aston Martin! A great beach with a beautiful boardwalk. Deauville is a vibrant town with a vast choice of great restaurants and shops. The beach is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. Trouville is a 15/20minute walk again a vast choice of restaurants, the fish market is great and gets very busy. The horse racing is great in Deauville with two tracks one within walking distance, the other just a cab ride. There is also an equestrian centre which host various levels of competitions. Please watch the intake of water. There are not alot of places to use the restroom. The beache is nice and fills up quickly. Parking is very tight so if you can walk from a far that would be your best option. Bring your necessities (towel, water, sun screen snacks, sanitizer and toys for the kids).

The building is amazing, huge and full of arts that make you feel this old lady has some stories to tell. Deauville does not have safe places to let puppies run without leach. And the garden was perfect for us and our puppy. It’s a calm and perfect to enjoy the sun. Delphine and her husband are kind and helpful. The main building and guest rooms are located in old French farm-style houses that look stunning. Inside, all facilities are new and comfortable. The hotel staff is super nice and friendly. The entire territory of the hotel is like a beautiful garden with plenty of places to relax. Although I felt there is not much to do in the village where the hotel is located, it's definitely a great stopover if you have a car and travel around Normandy.

The bathroom was great - lots of hot water water and good shower - lots of towels. A couple of things needed attention on our arrival and these were dealt with immediately. The staff were polite and helpful and the breakfast was one of the best that I have ever experienced in any hotel.
