Location is amazing and having parking inside intra-muros under the hotel is so convenient! We will definitely stay here again. Also a lot of reviews are complaining about the parking being tight but it is going to be tight in such a location, and with my quite large car I found it much easier then I had expected. Staff couldn't do enough to help us, very nice We didn't have time for breakfast but next time!

FAQs about hotels in Saint Malo

Walled Gateway to France

One of the major seaports connecting France and England, Saint Malo is Brittany’s most visited town and a tourist destination in its own right.

The Old Town overlooks the English Channel and is completely surrounded by restored walls. You get a great view of them if you arrive on the ferries from England to St Malo (either direct or by the Channel Islands). Once an island, this citadel now shelters behind it the hundreds of sailing boats bobbing in the modern harbor.

Within the Old Town are bars and restaurants serving oysters from nearby Cancale, and many of the St Malo hotels. The most notable sights are the cathedral with its colorful, stained-glass window, and the castle - site of the town's museum.

The beaches are sandy, though the water is somewhat bracing. A causeway leads to Grand Bé, a rocky island housing the tomb of Chateaubriand, its most famous son. To the south is the 14th-century Solidor Tower, a remarkable collection of artifacts from voyages around Cape Horn. Further inland is Labyrinthe du Corsaire, a huge maze that will keep kids busy for hours.

In the Rance River, connecting the sea to Dinan, is the world’s first tidal power station. The road over it leads to Dinard Airport, the closest to Saint-Malo.

Outstanding medieval walled city rich in centuries of history. Inside the walled city is a beautiful labyrinth of cobbled lanes and alleys, filled with cafes, shops, restaurants and hotels. A truely unique experience that visitors should invest time to discover all there is to see. The changing tides and the effect on the local coast is remarkable to see. Best to visit at low tide.

Lovely place to visit for a long weekend ; great beaches and restaurants. We ate at Le Cale in Solidor ; great seafood but quite pricey and in a great location overlooking the bay. The Creperie also great for snacks, tapas and drinks. Great atmosphere and great views and great value for money. Intra muros really interesting and great to walk around walls. Enjoyed walking around the peninsula between Solidor and St Malo . A great walk parc Solidor with fab views and a great private beach at low tide. We were just out of season so weren't able to to use the sea bus across to Dinard as planned.

This hotel in St Malo's old town is close to bars, restaurants, cafes and boutique shopping. All the best attractions are nearby: ramparts, beaches, incredible ocean landscapes, and the port. The tourist office is very close. Even better, the family who run the hotel are friendly, helpful and professional - and were happy for me to practise my French on them. The rooms are warm and comfortable. There's a bar in the lobby, and a terrace to 'prendre une verre' and watch the world go by. The continental breakfast is wonderful.

The room very comfortable and pretty. the Chateau is idyllic and is located in a quiet, relaxing and bucolic place (I could see horses from my bedroom window) and is so near Saint-Malo that you can go back and forth easily. While the check in was complicated ( for me) the agent on the phone was helpful. The mattress is the best I've encountered in France so far. Very comfortable pillow -top. Warm comforter and nice pillow ( all synthetic- so great for those with dust mite allergies). The room and bathroom were very clean. Everything is new and it was nice to stay somewhere so clean. I love the towel heater and again, the best part is the mattress.

A very clean twin bed room that was excellent value for money. Plenty of hot water for the shower. The stairs were a bit steep, but these two pensioners managed them OK. We only had coffee in the morning and that was a big cup of good coffee. We managed to park right outside the hotel for free, otherwise there was an adjacent car park with plenty of spaces. It took about 10 mins to walk to the old town

The hotel was ideal for us as we know this area by the marina well. 15 minutes walk to the walled city and very much a local area away from the tourists. The pub offers pub food and some nights have music. There's a restaurant next door that has an open charcoal grill and fantastic food. Book early as it's very popular with the locals. Also there's a good seafood restaurant near the waterfront.

Super location, very short walk down to sea-front. Very secure parking to rear of house within private "parkland" garden. Lovely warm welcome on arrival. Building is as advertised; very classy and bang full of character. Paid extra for upgrade room which was huge! This place is so, so far away from modern concrete hotels with cubicle rooms. Comfortable, clean hotel only five minutes from the ferry terminal - which is why we booked it.
