Sofitel Athens Airport, hotel in Athens

The 5-star Sofitel Athens Airport’is conveniently located 50 metres from Athens International Airport. It offers a spa and an indoor heated pool with views over the airport.

You can't beat the location, especially when you have an early flight. Restaurants are nice but expensive (most likely due to location). The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable.

FAQs about hotels in Athens

A Dynamic City with 3400 Years of History

With the Acropolis as the jewel in the archaeological crown of Athens, this city is full of history whilst embracing the future. Take a stroll back in time through the neoclassical streets of the Plaka, where you will find tavernas serving tantalising souvlaki and mousaka, street vendors and live entertainment.

A trip to the Parthenon and the Agora top most lists and can also be appreciated from a distance by walking along the Dionysiou Aeropagitou street, which is away from the busy crowds downtown.

Changing the guard occurs every hour on the famous Syntagma Square. From here Ermou Street provides shopaholics with a fashionable retail sanctuary. The up-market districts of Kolonaki and Kifisia are also bursting with fancy boutiques, galleries and bars.

Athens contains some of the finest museums in the world such as the National Archaeological, Acropolis and Benaki Museums. From Athens International Airport to the Port of Piraeus, this is a city bustling with the old and new. On Booking.com you can find everything from modern hotels to a room in a classical building.

I like the fact that Athens is so green.

I like the fact that Athens is so green. The Acropolis surroundings are full of parks. Visiting the Acropolis is great but don't miss out on also viewing it from the Muses' hill and/or the hill of Ares. The walk around the Acropolis on the west side to the Agora is charming. There are a lot of pedestrian streets. It makes wandering around so relaxing. We also loved the Archeology and Benaki museums. Walking back from the Benaki museum in the embassies' district, we saw soldiers in traditional costume walk by which was a nice surprise.

Been there a few times for stays of a few days - we dislike cities, but you can put yourself in the Plaka and avoid most of the hustle. Take cabs to the museums and get dropped back - everything you need from breakfast to nightlife can be found within blocks - a great mix of foreigners to mingle with and the restaurant personnel are typically from all over Greece, knowledgeable, friendly and responsive. Hard not to like Athens if you approach it properly. Try Molina Mercuri for breakfast thru dinner, Anaflotika Cafe and Anefani (roof top terrace) Last two with excellent live traditional Greek music.

There is so much history in that city! It seems that we could be there for ever and still learn. There is a great hop on and off bus that has a circuit including all the main places to visit; that was wonderful. Local people are very welcoming. Lots of security at the Monasteraki square ( big touristic place), police officers super nice and helpful! You felt very secure and welcomed.

Athens starts to get very hot in May and only gets hotter during June to August. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and always carry bottles of water. Every restaurant we went to eat in supplied bottles of water. The various Ancient sites are spread around. I suggest paying for a ticket that can allow you access to Ancient Agora, Acropolis Hill and Pantheon, Roman Agora, Olympian temple of Zeus, Hadrians library

Beautiful and comfortable apartment that was perfect for our family of 4. It is homey and quiet. We stayed only one night, but wish we could have stayed longer—sadly it was our last full day in Greece. The location is excellent, in the heart of Plaka —a short walk to the Acropolis and the many other attractions in the area. The individuals who run it are extremely sweet and accommodating. They even let us check in hours early to make sure we were comfortable asap. We will certainly return if ever in Athens again. Highly recommended!

The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. - They pay attention to detail in their breakfast with all their items being freshly made and delicious. It is a very nice hotel the staff are so kind and helpful. Would recommend to go and visit here add this to your tour of Greece.

A special shoutout to Giota who went out of her way for us on a consistent basis…but each staff member went over and above to assure our comfort and enjoyment…just amazing! The location was perfect-we couldn’t have asked for a more convenient and beautiful location. We loved Greece and the Hotel Lozenge had a lot to do with that. Can’t wait to visit again.

This hotel is perfectly placed if you want to be close to Syntagma Square, Plaka and the National Gardens. It is a 3 minute walk from the X95 bus stop (the Athens Airport bus - cost 5 euros and 50 cents). We had a lovely big room that overlooked the road and church at the front of the building. The breakfast was top class with plenty of choice and all high quality. A very positive experience.
