Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel and Dépendance, hotel in Zadar

Located in historic Old Town Zadar, Almayer Art & Heritage Hotel and Dépendance is an - Adults Only - property that offers an on-site bar and restaurant. Free WiFi is available at the property.

The most beautiful hotel in our Croatia-Slovenia tour! Just amazing… We chose to stay in the dépendance whose rooms are renovated with unique and sophisticated style, with a Liberty taste. We enjoyed the terrace so much that we would hardly leave the room… Almayer has all that you need and will remain the best memory of Zadar for us. The breakfast in the courtyard was superlative and for dinner - after trying hard to find a better option - we also enjoyed the hotel restaurant, in the winter garden: a fantastic gastronomic experience, with a really talented chef! The only reason you may have to leave this place is to see the Sea Organ (2 min walk) or Saint Anastasia cathedral (3 min walk). I don’t understand some past reviews with negative comments on the bathroom towels as they are of excellent quality, made of organic cotton and high hand design.

FAQs about hotels in Zadar

Dalmatias Historical Heart

Tucked away on the crystal blue waters of the Adriatic Sea and surrounded by small archipelago, Zadar is sprinkled with Romanesque architecture, medieval churches and protected by 16th century fortifications and high walls.

As the waves crash along the shores, the sea organ will play its harmonic sounds and welcome you to Zadar’s lively and charming Old Town, located across from the mainland. It is lined with marble walkways, landmarks, fascinating museums, and priceless archives.

It is home to the National Museum, Five Wells Square, the 14th-century University of Zadar, and the Roman Forum which features the 9th-century St Donatus' Church and 12th-century St. Mary's Church.

Stroll along the pretty tree-lined promenades and enjoy a meal in the several cafés, restaurants and bars which line Zadar's streets. Visit the popular Peoples Square in the district Narodni trg and shop in the Mercator Centar or City Galleria.

Booking.com has accommodation options in Zadar and across the coastline in cities such as Bibinje, Petrcane and Sukošan. Zadar Airport links the city to several European destinations.

Perfect location for a solo female traveller.

Perfect location for a solo female traveller. I felt really safe the whole time. The old town has a cosy, friendly vibe with people from all over the world visiting. The sea organ and the greeting to the sun were really unique and brilliant. The beaches nearby were fairly quiet and serene, the water is crystal clear. The restaurants were quite expensive but the bakeries sold pastries for €1 which were delicious and you can buy huge slices of pizza for €3 from street vendors. I went on a day trip to Plitvice Lakes with In and Out Tours Zadar, I booked through get your guide and paid around £40. This included a transfer coach to and from the location (2 hours each way), a tour guide, a boat trip in the park and a city tour afterwards (I didn’t attend this). Entry to the lakes was €21. I think it’s cheaper to book this tour directly with In and Out Zadar so would recommend doing this, their office is in the centre of the old town. I spent most of my time in the old town of Zadar and it was very clean, no litter anywhere. I stayed at the Boutique Hostel Forum which was around €50 for a 3 night stay and was an incredible hostel- it has privacy blinds and private bathrooms for each 4 person dorm so didn’t feel too much like a hostel vibe. If travelling on a budget I’d highly recommend staying here as it couldn’t be in a more perfect, central location and was the best hostel I’ve stayed in.

A great country to visit with plenty to see and do. Croatia has been in the pipeline for a while & I’m so glad I went. Not many countries make me go back but it’s ticked so many boxes for me. If you can hire a car, this would be really beneficial. Mountains, rivers, lakes & lush green clean countryside. Excellent & exactly what I wanted.

Zadar is an amazing city historically, really has every century covered since Roman times, but the beaches are not so good, you have to drive outside Zadar to find a nice beach. For 1 day stay it is okay if you plan to visits Plitvice Lakes from Zadar .

Really lovely room (#2 of 4 in the apartment, all with private entrance), quiet, cool, with balcony and water view, a really modern vibe and quality decor and finishes. Thoughtful touches even better than a hotel room ( fridge, safe, top quality monogrammed bedding, coffee machine, great bathroom. And absolutely perfect location just at little piazza facing the pedestrian Bridge to Old Town Zadar. Bakery, cafes, bank, small grocery store all 1 minute away. We loved it. And what a sweet idea to leave us a little welcome gift!

Everything was perfect: free parking, sparkly clean room, a superb view to the Adriatic Sea which we got to admire from our own (huge) private terrace, the pool. The owner is really nice and gave us an upgrade of the room we initially booked and also some useful travel advice. We also got to meet Blinks, the very cute dog that "guards" the property. It is true that you have to walk about 30 min, or 15 min+cheap boat to get to the city center, but the hotel area is far more quiet and relaxing.

Great Hotel, fast check in, friendly and helpful staff throughout, Our room was clean spacious with full facilities plus a balcony that overlooked the gardens and the sea. There is a good variety for breakfast. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to Zadar old town and 2 minutes from the beach. The hotel has an excellent pool bar and lobby bar. The pool itself is good and there is a separate children's paddling pool. The Kolovare is a business and holiday hotel, professionally run.

The apartment is located in the heart of old town Zadar, therefore right in the center of all sights and action. However, in the apartment no nuisance was experience. A golden combination. The apartment are to the standard of a luxurious hotel room. Great interior with a very comfortable bed and great bathroom. As a family we rented both apartments, therefore it was a bonus that the apartments are basically directly connected by a small private hallway.

Really lovely apartment in the heart of old town. The owner was amazing and went out of her way to let us in early to drop our bags and also allow us to leave the bags a bit longer on the last day. The bed was really spacious (only 1.8m I have seen in Croatia on our travel). Apartment has everything you need and a really nice couch to hang out. Zadar is amazing and worth a visit.
