I stayed only for one night of a business trip (September). Since I was on a very variable schedule, I had to be continuously in contact with the reception in terms of my arrival time - they were always available and very supportive (even though I arrived an hour after the maximum check in time). The hotel is on an excellent location by the sea, which offers the opportunity to walk - we walked on 7 am. Amazing breakfast.
The most important is the excellent building of the hotel - we actually reffered to it with my colleagues as "the mansion".

Tuscan Port and Hub
Livorno features one of the biggest harbours in Italy, from which ferries depart towards a long list of Mediterranean destinations, particularly the Tuscan Archipelago, Sardinia and Corsica. Called ‘Ideal Town’ during Renaissance times for its religious tolerance and its advanced trading regulations, it is surrounded by typical Tuscan countryside and Tyrrhenian beaches.
The city was declared a tax-free port in the 1580s, during the rule of Ferdinando de' Medici. The regulation protected the merchants and granted religious tolerance, attracting numerous Jewish and Protestant immigrants. The Counter-Reformation, the Napoleonic invasions, and the loss of its free-port status after the Italian Reunification were at the base of its commercial decline.

Livorno is a great base from where to explore Tuscany.
Livorno is a great base from where to explore Tuscany. The Quartiere Venezia, where embassies are, is the nicest place to stay & walk around. There’s an abundance of very good & also some gourmet restaurants. A walk along the seaside is recommended,
Unfortunately there’s some beautiful old historic buildings left to decay, namely the ancient thermal bath house ‚Coralle‘ and the adjacent grand hotel.

Livorno's coastline is picturesque.
Livorno's coastline is picturesque. Terrazza Mascagni is a great place to watch the sunset. The large central market has a vibrant atmosphere. The Piazza Grande is a good place to sit and have a coffee or a meal.
There are many attractions in nearby areas: Pisa, Siena, Lucca.

A great city.
A great city. Kind of dingy and edgy in places. lots of street art. I'd forgotten my favorite artist, Modigliani, was from here. Cuisine livornese is spectacular. Some of the finest seafood I've ever had. The old fortresses and Port area are very romantic. Hope I get to return some day. Loved il Porto Ristopecheria and Osteria della Venezia. Take the Moby Fantasy to Sardegna for a real treat. Getting around town isn't that easy no Uber I didn't understand the bus lines. Great little shopping area I think on what's called Grand Avenue

Livorno is a waterfront town, not BEACHFRONT.
Livorno is a waterfront town, not BEACHFRONT. We were looking for a relaxing day by the sea on a sandy beach, but this is not the city for that. It has beautiful views but the waterfront is rocky, not sandy, in which we were disappointed. It took all morning to figure out that to get to the beach we had to leave the town. $40 in cab fares to go to Tirrenia which is beautiful and sandy. Skip this town, go to Tirrenia instead if you're looking for a traditional sandy beach.

Livorno is a very special artistic and very Italian town to mine point of view. It reminds me of the modern Art which could be with a variety of faces: the dark side of realism as well as the hopeful side of modernism and the fantastically beautiful side of the antic architecture. For swimmers and nature lovers it leads you to the incredibly long and supercool beaches together with nature reservoirs like rocks water areas and so on.. For fashion people Livorno might be special in a variety of flea markets which could be very interesting and unique. There are lots of Art galleries around as well. The restaurants and cafes are also very Italian, with an incredible fish menu ( the freshest fish from the harbor of town ) and reasonable prices.

I like everything in Livorno.
I like everything in Livorno. Beautiful promenade and restaurants locals and bars. I can suggest a better organization for park the car inside all the city center area. The quartier Venezia is well served : restaurants, bars, locals and close to the port area . You can visit the central Market and eat the special food “5e5” in Gagarin place.
Great location, most hospitable host I have ever come across. Excellent facilities and the best stocked kitchen with food galore and coffee! (No expense spared!). I truly recommend this place as its a 2 bedroom place and plenty of room for eveb 2 couples. The wine in the fridge qas a nice touch. All up very thoughtful and considered approach to hosting. I was very impressed. Also, very quiet so I finally had the sleep I needed after touring across Italy for 4 months. Definitely the best place I've stayed at!
The hotel is in a quiet location and has a beautiful view over Livorno and the sea , yet is within 15 minutes' drive from the center of town; an ideal combination . The pool was wonderful, the rooms clean, large and airy, the owners very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Breakfast was great and the wine recommendation for a glass of chilled white wine on our patio was the perfect way to start the evening. Thanks to Ramona and her husband for helping to make our mini-holiday delightful.
Good for one-night stay (if you travel to Sardinia, Corsica by ferry).
A few parking lots are available for hotel guests near the hotel, also there is a publicly available parking house 20m away from the hotel.
The staff at the reception is kind, polite and helpful.
The room and the equipment is quite dated and needs renovation.
The cleanliness is mediocre, but overall there are things that need to be taken care of immediately (mold on the bathroom walls).
I’ve stayed at dozens of places in Livorno over the years and this is simply the best apartment I’ve stayed at. It’s very spacious, bright, perfectly clean and has everything you need. The location is perfect, right next to the central market and a few minutes walk from Via Grande but it’s quiet and you can barely hear anything from the outside.
Also, Giulio is an amazing host who picked me up at the train station and helped me with many things in Livorno.
Location in city centre, one room out of two received an upgrade from backside to front/sea side (although we booked rooms to the backside on purpose, the front of the hotel was extremely loud during the day, we intended to sleep quietly, main street of Livorno is right in front...
Breakfast staff is very friendly, thank you for this!
chargeable parking on site is secure, behind closed gates, thank you
AC and minibar fridge in room working fine
it’s a gorgeous boutique hotel; exceptionally clean and comfortable. Very short walk to the sea where there’s a wonderful walking/running and biking bath that stretches for miles and miles along the beautiful water.
Delicious breakfast with made to order cappuccino and fresh pastries, cheeses, breads, fruit, fresh juice and cereal.
Family owned and operated and the owners could not have been better hosts.
We choose the Max Hotel Livorno due to it's location to the ferry. Being in an industrial area, we were not expecting, much but were surprised at what a lovely hotel it was. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and dinner there was excellent. As a bonus, there is a big shopping mall within walking distance where we did last minute shopping. We will definitely stay again when we return to Italy.
Overall it was a very good hotel. The room was really nice, comfortable and modern, bathroom was big and it had all what you need, everything was working as it should, perfect A/C, very good breakfast. If you have a car, you can get to Pisa and Livorno very easily as it was located next to a significant road. Big free parking space in front of the hotel.
The location was excellent; right in the Venice quarter and walkable to many restaurants and points of interest. Parking was not on site but the hotel told us where to park the car and it was not far. 8 euros for 24 hours.
We stayed overnight before heading off early to Pisa airport. The staff upgraded us and gave us a luxurious suite rather than a room. Such a treat! Interesting too to be in a historic hotel right on the seafront.
I got all the help I needed with parking and storage.
The location is in the middle of the historic center. The best parking garage of the city is next door.
You are 4 minutes from the ferry’s
Location is in the nice part of Livorno. Close to the ocean walk!
Room was very nice and charming.
We got the room with the balcony and loved looking out at the sky.
The apartment was very spacious, close location to the port, which is what we needed for one night stay. You will definitely feel the vibe of a busy Italy here :)
the room was amazing.. the balcony and the view from the hotel was exceptional.. the staff really friendly and professional... i totally recommend the hotel 10/10
