Pisa is a good centre for visiting the cities and towns around it. Florence, Lucca, Viareggio, livorno and La Spetzia are all easily reached by train. It is much less overtouristed than say Florence apart from the area around the leaning thing.

Pisa has the obvious attractions and a few less obvious.
Pisa has the obvious attractions and a few less obvious. We have been a few times previously and enjoyed Bruno's Bar and the Botanical Gardens for a little peace and quite.
If visiting at the weekend it is very busy but after 18.00, most of the day trippers and coach parties leave and its a much less crowded and nicer place to be.
A walk around the top of the city walls also gets you away from the crowds and also give a totally different view of the main attractions.

The Leaning Tower, Cathedral, the Wall, Battistero, Camposanto are all worthy of more than one day.
Also, the city has a lot more to be seen, along Arno and the many Piazza's with a plethora of restaurants and charming streets.

The trip to the Tower was excellent once we got in.
The trip to the Tower was excellent once we got in. Unfortunately the booking came through late though - made through Viator via Booking.com. So take care if doing this. I would go direct to the main website another time. Pisa itself was fairly quiet - went in April. Very pleasant.

Pisa is an interesting city in itself, besides being a good centre for visiting Lucca and probably Florence (avoid much of the crowds!). It is flat, as is Lucca, so good for those who want to go to Italy but find climbing up and down hills hard work (Siena/Perugia). You need good shoes to walk around Italian cities because the paving is authenticallly rough and uneven.
I would certainly invest in a good map of the city, rehterht an the one provided generously by the Tourist Office.
We used this B&B because of its location near Pisa airport both on arriving and leaving Italy. We arrived at night after a late flight; the owner had already sent videos by WhatsApp of the location, how to enter the property, and what was inside, which was very useful. The apartment itself had what we needed for a short stopover, with food available in the shared kitchen. The milk, juice and fresh fruit was especially appreciated. We also sat in the garden in the morning to have breakfast.
Convenient stay in Pisa. Relatively close to station (10 minute walk) and leaning tower (20 minute walk) - if you want to take the bus make sure to download the atbus italy app and buy a digital ticket because there aren’t any physical outside the train station.
Rooms were clean, though seemed a bit old in furnishing and dusty. Our train on the day of departure was at 3pm, and fortunately the hotel approved late checkout for 1.30pm. They also had a microwave which was great.
I drove in from Genoa, it was easy to find, very straightforward drive in unlike many places we e been.
Elio was super helpful. Explained where to go and how to get there with map. It’s 10/15 minute walk from Leaning tower.
The room was very nice and the bathroom was the best we have experienced in Italy this holiday (6 different hotels)
There were cold drinks in a fridge available to purchase at any time.
Pisa is great - even better than I experienced
An authentic accommodation experience in the center of Italy, 10 minutes walk from Pisa Centrale, 25 minutes walk from the airport. I would sum it up by saying that we felt at home. Exceptionally clean, one of the most comfortable beds. The breakfast is very rich, freshly prepared and varied according to your choice. Flavia is a great host, pleasant to talk to, very attentive and we thank her for everything.
Location is PERFECT! Literally 3 minutes walk from Pisa tower and other main attractions,,,
Meta at the reception was such a nice, friendly man, we appreciate him…
Room and bed sheets were clean, generally the room was well maintained and not old! Also there are many restaurants, cafes and supermarkets right down the hotel so it is all accessible within reach,,, Hotel offers great value for it’s price…
Beautiful room, incredible bathroom. There is a backyard, a smalll room with cookies and coffee machine. Few blocks from Pisa train station, supermarket at one block, and diverse restaurants near the place. Two blocks for main commercial street.
Maybe the best boutique hotel we have known. Not only every detail in the beautiful room, but also very kind and professional people in charge of the facility.
First of all, the warm and helpful reception and guidance of the owner and staff. Furthermore, the pleasant and beautifully decorated setting of rooms, dining room, valie and garden. The location close to the airport but no noise pollution & good accessibility downtown. It was my best experience of all my Italy trips now and in the past. La corte di Stelio is what every B&B should be.
This hotel is ideally situated for a quick trip to Pisa to see all of the main tourist attractions. Easy enough to get to/from the airport/train station using public transit, and is walkable from Pisa Centrale.
They are great with luggage drop if you arrive earlier than check in, and breakfast in the morning was nice.
The hotel was clean, and comfortable and great for one night.
Very clean and newly renovated, amazing value for money! The breakfast was served to your room which I haven’t experienced at a hotel before, but I really liked it! More hotels should offer that! Also, both the center train station and Pisa airport are a 10 min walk from the hotel. The leaning tower of Pisa is about a 35 min walk away.
I was travelling through Italy visiting family with my teenage grandchildren and had 4 days in Pisa. The Villa was a good choice for us due to it's proximity to the Airport and Train Station.
Lovely old Villa with a beautiful Garden. Host was helpful and I would recommend this property to Family and Friends.
The historic building was great, Ivanka was an extremely welcoming and friendly host, and the room was perfect. We’ve been in Italy a few weeks now and this was by far the most comfortable bed we’ve had. We both slept great and the location was perfect to see the tower and explore Pisa.
Close to Pisa Centrale station. Ideal for an overnight on way to rest of Italy or coming back home via Pisa Airport. Very helpful, friendly and obliging staff, Excellent breakfast with a good range of choices. Quiet so you get a good night's sleep. And very reasonably priced.
Rooms were spacious and beautiful, breakfast was delicious (loved their croissants for ex, when usually Italy doesn't have great croissants). The hosts were very attentive to all our needs and went above and beyond. The location is in the heart of a very nice part of Pisa
The property is really affordable, the view is spectacular, the location is perfect, only a few steps away from the Pisa Leaning Tower, and 8 mins walk to the central station, the staff are all really friendly and nice! Best accommodations I’ve had in Italy:)
The breakfast buffet (a Nutella dispenser!), history-rich breakfast room, rooftop terrace with view of the Leaning Tower, and location near Pisa's main attractions were what we most appreciated about Hotel di Stefano. The bathroom was also nicely done.
Friendly and helpful staff. Stay was exactly what we needed - a cheap overnight stop off on our way to the airport. Hotel was within easy walking distance to main Pisa attractions and extremely close to train station and shuttle to the airport.
This is an old hotel in the middle of pisa. The bed was very comfortable and the location was right in the center not a far walk from the train station and airport. The breakfasts were very good. Overall it was good value 👍
The staff was very thoughtful, the hotel has an amazing location, really close to the pisa tower and the room was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the billing of the hotel is very beautiful.
The room was spacious enough for 3 people without any funky corners to make it tight unlike other properties in Italy we had been. Bed was comfy, easy check in and close to Pisa Tower and food spots.
it’s convenient to the airport.
Lorenzo gave us very clear instructions as to location and how to access his apartment. The shower was the best we had in our week in Italy!
