A very warm welcome for us and our 2 dogs and a nice spacious room. Breakfast was fairly basic but good enough. We had dinner the first night which was okay. The best thing we ate all stay was the homemade Bakewell tart which was excellent.

Excellent Breakfast, choice of cooked or continental, freshly cooked on ordering.
The location in the village was fine, fairly central and we had a dedicated parking space off road.
We had dinner there twice and enjoyed it. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, all the staff were very helpful.
Nice base for walking. Quiet and picturesque. Padley Gorge is really beautiful but gets very busy on a nice day.
The Maynard Hotel is excellent with a lovely garden ( dog friendly ) and good food .

Grindleford is a lovely place.
Grindleford is a lovely place. There are some nice walks hereabouts and the railway station (Grindleford) is across the road - and down the drive - with links to Hathersage, Hope and Edale in one direction and to Sheffield in the other.

It is a good location for exploring north Derbyshire but a car is essential to get to interesting locations quickly.
The actual village of Grindleford only consists of a few houses along the main road.
Our hiking days are in the past so we restricted ourselves to Buxton,, Bakewell, Chatsworth and the villages from Hathesage along to Castleton and also Eyam.
Try to choose a long hot, dry summer for this hilly area!

The hotel had a lovely appearance from the outside and a lovely atmosphere inside, it is more than you would expect find inside, it is so homely and comfortable in every aspect from start to finish food was delicious and a varied menu to suit anyone, the staff and owners are a treasure so polite and loads of laughs were had by them all, they go out their way to make you feel welcome and ensure your stay is a memorable one if we could give it more than 5 stars we would, we're definitely going to stay again on our next trip.
We liked the management of the booking, the quality and qualities of the staff (friendliness, enthusiasm, positivity, professionalism, courtesy). The room was supreme, with a lovely view over Grindleford and beyond, and the breakfast tasted as wonderful as any breakfast I've ever had. Someone has done a superb job of re-launching this excellent Peak District destination. Thank you so much one and all for a lovely stay.
It is a fantastic hotel, in a beautiful building and in a stunning location. There is a lot of character and quirkiness in the interior design. The view on the mountains from our window was amazing. Food was delicious and nicely presented. we regretted we stayed there only one night.
Stunning hotel in a beautifully picturesque setting. We were upgraded to the largest suite with a huge bed and roll top bath. The food is of a very high standard yet very reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend and hopefully get the chance to stay again.
Such a welcoming stay in a totally different hotel to what I'm used to. Heritage of the place a major feature. Sir William, in his suit of armour overlooking breakfast was the main feature! Staff very welcoming and helpful. Good parking.
