The location was great---right on the water with a little beach and dock. Loved the outdoor tables and hammocks. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Restaurant and bar a two minute walk away.

The staff are lovely and very professional, it really is a magical place!

In our experience, there's not a lot to do in Marathon.
In our experience, there's not a lot to do in Marathon. There's some snorkel, SCUBA, and fishing charters, but that's about it. Sombrero Beach looks great for younger families. There's more recreational activities out of Key Largo and Key West, but Marathon is central for access to both, plus Islamorada and Big Pine. There's plenty of areas to eat, but we found that buying ahi tuna steaks at $10/lb was a steal at the grocery store. As with all driving in the Keys, respect the speed as there are plenty of deputies and troopers.

I will never stay at Gulf view oceanfront Resort which is only a motel with hard beds horrible customer service and deceptive photos. I will always stay a banana Bay Resort in Marathon from now on, that is a resort a real resort and they welcome your pets and they have free breakfast beautiful grounds beautiful pool wonderful people.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Marathon is a great stop before going to key west or if you want to fish or do activities. KW isn't a great destination for that. Marathon is much quieter but also closes early. I'd much rather stay in Marathon for a longer part and do an overnight in KW.KeithUnited States - 10Scored 10

Went to Bahia Honda State Park - beaches were ok. They offer paddle boarding and kayak rental there. went on several trails, which were nice. Went on the old 7 mile bridge (cloudy day), but didn't get to see sunrise. Drove out to see mini deers and got to see a glimpse of one (it was not near sunset or sunrise, which is the time they recommend you go to see them).Joo - 10Scored 10

We visited the Sea Turtle Recuse Hospital and it was amazing. They are doing such a great job . We ate at a lot of restaurants that was on our List and a few from recommendations from Jason ( Front desk Clerk-awesome guy). Had breakfast at the Conch House Cafe -twice and Dinner at Castaways twice. Bahia Honda State Park beach was the BEST Beach we visited in Marathon.MaelindaUnited States

Ryan who checked us in was friendly and had some good recommendations for local restaurants. We enjoyed chilling by the pool, the rooms were spacious and had all we needed. Just a 10/15 min drive from a good beach (perhaps the best in the Keys?). From here we drove down to Key West for the day, a really lovely drive and Key West is not to be missed. Loved the arty/Hippy vibes. Could have stayed here much longer!! Thanks Ryan and the Sea Dell motel for an amazing stay.

Check-in was efficient and fast, rooms were in pristine conditions, beds extremely comfortable, very nice decorated and a very nice view from our room in the 4th floor. Pool area and bar are very good and helped us to relax and enjoy few drinks. Breakfast was outstanding in our last day, items are simple but portions were generous, service was phenomenal and we felt very welcomed and everything was very tasty.

The room was clean with coffee making facilities etc. The pool was good too. Nice and warm! The best bit was access to the little marina behind the motel which was gorgeous and the perfect place to watch the sun rise or set. Was a great position roughly half way along the keys and very near Bahia Honda and Sombrero beach, both of which are worth visiting. Also not too far for a day trip to Key West. Pool is good, open till 22:00 (and beyond if you keep silence) and towels, fitness center (small one with the basic equipment), many parking slots located in the center of Marathon, right in the middle of the Keys, an hour drive to each of the Key's edges. (largo/west) Hotel loans bicycles to cycle around. (not the best bicycles however enough for short biking around)

The Treehouse is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, but you can walk to the Gulf (not a beach, but a pier you can sit on) to watch the sunset without worrying about traffic or crowds.
