Boasting mountain views, Shawwood Estate offers accommodation with balcony, around 3.8 km from Glen Willow Regional Sports Stadium. The accommodation was like a home away from home. Artwork and decorative elements throughout as well as extra blankets, picnic rugs made the accommodation feel like home. Melissa left some locally made rocky road as a welcome which was a nice touch. The unit is well insulated, despite sub-zero temperatures outside overnight, we hardly used the heating. There was underfloor heating which I suspect helped.

Bustling country town with lots of choices for fun. Great wineries, restaurants, clubs, cafes and pubs. There is an excellent restaurant at Lowes winery called Zin House (but make sure you book ahead). Little township of Gulgong nearby which is like stepping back in time, it has heaps of charm. We stayed at Parkview in town which is a short walk to the town centre. It has had a refurbishment and filled with period piece furnishings. There is a great little cafe onsite. We also stayed at the Vineyard Motor Inn which is a short 6 minute drive into town. It is nestled in the vineyards and super quiet and comfy rooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are large, clean and comfy. Well worth the stay for a restful sleep.
Abused by older woman attendant at Mudgee bp servo, "the sponge is for CLEANING THE WINDSCREEN, NOT THE WHOLE CAR!" When she blurted this unpleasantness in front of a customer who had not yet left the counter, with me waitung patiently behind him, and I responded that I HAD been cleaning the windscreen, front and rear light covers and side mirrors and was from on a farm so she didn't wabpnt to SEE what dust my car could have on it, driving on fusty roads, she gave NO apology. It was as a visitor downright rude and I will ho out of my way never to need to use that servo again. She seemed to instead of the immediate apology that a well-mannered older woman would offer excuse her rudeness and error by then saying "some girl a few days ago was cleaning her car with it and wrecked the sponge!" It was one of what I call "deadbeats of the town" rude experiences courtesy of a person who didn't appear to know any better and who had two easy chances to apologise as I even decided to add a cappucino the attendant made, but would still not say a simple "sorry". Another person at least saw and heard this awful accusation as they were waitung to be served. Please try to get the msg through that this is such a huge negative to encounter for a visitor.
Mudgee is a very pleasant country town surrounded by excellent wineries. Visitors a spoilt for choice for lovely eateries. Our favourite winery is Mansfield Wines and the High Valley Cheese shop & the adjoining restaurant on Ulan Road are lovely. EV charging is quick and easy at Mudgee with two locations for updated NRMA chargers.
Loved it! Great town. We visited for the small farms field days and would love to come back sometime and see more of the area. Loved the food at the Courthouse Hotel - good pub food and great service.
Mudgee is a lovely country town with many places to enjoy good food and wine. The surrounding areas are beautiful where you can take leisurely drives popping into wineries along the way and exploring nearby quaint and historical towns.
Went to the Three Tails Brewery, plenty of beers on tap, try the (alcoholic) ginger beer. The food here was amazing with huge portions. Also went to Lowe's vineyard, which was fabulous. I recommend the meal with pairing wines, its a bit expensive but the food and wines were fabulous as was the scenery. We only had 2 nights and would have stayed longer.
