Beachcomber Lodge offers everything you need for a relaxing getaway. Set on 5 beautiful acres, it is a short stroll from Ned’s Beach and Middle Beach. Clean and well appointed, in line with reasonable expectations for the price. Paul is the main reason we will return there as a priority, service and kindness like that is rare. Have stayed at other lodges and it did not exist at those places.

Arajilla Retreat is located in a forest area just behind Old Settlement Beach on Lord Howe Island. Guests can choose from a range of 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom luxurious suites. We all had a fantastic stay and the staff had excellent service. The all-inclusive dining was wonderful too.
Paradise found. Pristine island with amazing natural attractions. Fantastic beaches, snorkelling, variety of fish, kayaking, bike riding, golf, and numerous scenic walks. Relaxed vibe everywhere. Yoga classes were great. Benny’s food truck and Brewery our choice of places to eat.
Great for an ‘away from it all’ vacation: can never get too crowded as max 400 visitors. Lovely beaches. Plenty of marine life inc turtles, rays; great for birding; and great walks from mostly level to challenging. If on a self catering visit, there decent dining (and bar) options on various days when you don’t feel like cooking; The Anchorage is open 7-days morn through evening; some visitors load up with cryovac / frozen meat in their carryon as comestibles tend to be expensive due to remoteness. Diamond’s Store has local caught fresh fish (cryovaced then frozen). Plenty of beachside BBQ facilities that get restocked with wood daily. Plenty of coral and snorkelling trips (some subject to weather if going out to sea).
The location of Beachcomber Lodge is at the top of a VERY STEEP hill which made pushbike riding back to Beachcomber a VERY LONG uphill slog. If we come back to Lord Howe Island we will stay closer to the town on more level ground. There was no restaurant at Beachcomber, so the Best restaurant "Anchorage" at the bottom of the steep hill.
A week is a good length stay. Chose a different eatery each night to spread the tourist dollar around. Strongly recommended tours are glass bottomed boat with Islander Cruises to see coral, fish & turtles plus Chase'n'Thyme Island Tour which lasts close on 3 hours. Must also visit Ned's Beach and feed the fish. Many bush walks to do and a visit to the Museum is also a must-do.
Absolutely stunning. Love the wild and unique environment of the island -- birdlife including migratory birds and nesting sites, ocean, coral reefs, turtles and fishlife, forests, beaches,/cliffs/mountains, walks and hikes. Quiet and beautiful, with a focus on the beauty and uniqueness of the environment and the need to protect it, rather than 'resort' facilities. We have been back four times now, and hope to have the chance to come back again.
LHI is a tropical wonderland. Coral and fish are amazing. Short or long, easy and difficult walks, hikes are available. LHI is very much into recycling. It is a very clean island. Book dinner only, any night. Book tours and activities if you can before you go. If not, the boatsheds are open, but I suggest booking the moment you arrive on the island. Definitely hire a bike. Good way to get around. The eateries and restaurants are superb and top notch. Be prepared for a mixture of weather (sun, rain and wind). Most things you can hire for water activities. Most places take credit card payments.
