Very caring and committed to her guests' comfort. Asked our thoughts and any suggestions we may have. Really wanted honest feedback which we gave openly and willingly. Suggested sightseeing spots and places to eat, very helpful with little hints eg how great the Tourist Info place is - a MUST visit early in your stay, to efficiently manage to see as many as possible. "The Hut" is really in town but doesn't feel like it as there's empty space around us as well, being on the edge of town. Extremely clean and very comfy. No neighbourhood or street noise - BLISS! Marja even turned on the best sunsets way out there in the outback!

An interesting outback town and the best way to see Lightning Ridge is to follow the coloured door routes. Just be mindful that many attractions and shops are closed during Summer because of the extreme heat.
Lightning Ridge is a great place, the lifestyle and outback way of life is infectious and hard to leave. We visited with our three children (6, 8, and 9) and there was a lot to keep them entertained, including the water park, tourist bus tours, noodling, meals at the bowling club, opal shops, the chambers of the black hands, the artesian bore baths - the list goes on!
We loved how friendly the locals are at the Artesian Bore Baths - met some really lovely people there!! We are seriously thinking of moving to Lightning Ridge just because of the Bore baths The food at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club was lovely Getting around Lightning Ridge is easy by car
Allow at least 5 days to comfortably do most of the sights. Do not miss the car door trips, especially the sunset. This was beyond brilliant and John Murray Gallery. Wow wow wow. It will be my first stop on our next visit.
Let's face it Lightning Ridge is not very scenic but people visit mainly for the mining aspect of things including the opal mines. And they are very interesting and there is plenty to learn about. And bevor I forget to mention it : Their IGA Supermarket is 5 Star rated in my eyes.
To visit the attractions in the area. On the way into the town call in to the Information Centre first. The staff are very helpful and will provide you with maps and flyers of the attractions to visit. There is a shop there to purchase souvenirs. The hotel has a large variety of meals and drinks. The town as a large IGA supermarket, petrol station, a post office and shops to purchase opal and other souvenirs.
