Sant Lluis is the district, the house we stayed at is in Son Gaixo which is a small residential area overlooking the sea. The nearest beach is Punta Prima ten minutes from where we were to the east. which is crowded with all inclusive brits who have clearly been eating too many cakes. It has music playing bars for those who like it lively. To the west of Gaixo are Binincolla and Binibequer which are much quieter and prettier. There is a beach between the two which seems not to attract the wrist band wearing hotel crowd. There are biciyle trails surrounding the towns of the Sant Lluis area which are also walkable as footpaths. There are signs and information boards up about routes at intervals. There are maps and trail books available online and in Mao. there is an Eroski supermarket in Sant Lluis and Mercadona in Mao. Mercadona do deliver to the area.
I had absolutely amazing, relaxing stay in here. It is true that the hotel is a bit isolated, but one should know this before booking a stay here. For me, this was perfect, as I was seeking for nice relaxing stay at hotel and chilling on the beach, which was just 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The animation team is coming with plenty of activities, so even at the hotel you can not get bored. It was perfectly relaxing time at pool and beach. The hotel is well maintained and is really clean, the restaurant is beautiful with an amazing food, I did not find a single thing to complain about. I loved it and I would highly, highly recommend!
Mahon is an easy going city. It is small and not too noisy. There is plenty to do and see. You can cover most areas on foot and there is a good bus service to other parts of Menorca. The harbour area is attractive with boat trips which are a great way to see the city and get an idea of its' history. It is also a very pleasant area to walk and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars both in the harbour area and in the centre of town. Menorca has lovely beaches and because it is a relatively small island it is easy enough to reach anywhere from Mahon
We know Binibeca quite well and like the informal relaxed feel of the place. There are one or two good restaurants and a couple of small shops. There is a very good supermarket for self-catering visitors. There isn't a sandy beach in the village itself but there are areas accessible for swimming. Beware the jellyfish though - during our stay in September we saw a lot, unfortunately.
Lovely place to visit. Sunday evenings are quiet restaurant wise, be warned! Easy route down to the harbour which is very long and full of restaurants and cafes. There is fast lift back up which is great. The glass bottom boat tour is a bargain and a must, you really get a sense of the size and good commentary re history etc. Some great restaurants and cafes. Totally recommend a little tapas bar next to the only part of the old city wall called Can Xavi. It's busy, but food is great. full of locals and excellent value. Very friendly owners and do not be put off by the touristy looking menu, it is proper tapas food. Museum is an excellent visit and only 4 euros. So much history and laid out in a way that you walk around a beautiful building chronologically. We will return. Thank you Mahon.
The town is gorgeous. Loved walking round the crazy little streets and going for little swims in the nearby coves. There are some nice bars and restaurants (the best was bambü where they are so lovely with great food and an amazing view of the sunset. Make sure you book in advance) The town is a bit cut off and menorca is a hard place to get a taxi sometimes, so rent a car or grab the bus to Mahon (or mao as it’s called on the timetables) and you can get cheap busses anywhere from there. We discovered this a bit late in the holiday, but still enjoyed every day all the same. Just got home today and missing it already.
