Colmar city was close and was very pretty. Great place to visit.

The location is also convenient as it is just a 10’ minutes drive from the centre of Colmar. Véronique is super friendly and helpful. Was there to greet us and made sure our stay was amazing!

Colmar is a great base for the Alsace and also the Black...
Colmar is a great base for the Alsace and also the Black Forest in Germany. Helps to have a car to visit the lovely villages in the area. Parking in many places is free (Colmar, Riquewihr and Strasbourg being exceptions). If driving your own non French car it is worth getting a Crit'Air sticker before you leave for France which allows a visit to Strasbourg and Freiburg in Germany. Use park and ride if driving to Strasbourg which costs EUR4.20 and covers tram cost into centre for up to 7 occupants. Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg is worth visiting.

Colmar is a very pretty town with petty Venice being the pretiest part. There are some lovely things to do, such as the canal ride or the land train but even just looking around at the shops and architecture is worthwhile. I think to stay here for a few days is great but i think a week would be too long unless you are on a walking or biking holiday.

its just gorgeous - what a town - a really gem in the alsace region - i always take a night on my way back from an alpine motorcycle tour to stay in Colmar - i've brought my wife and my daughter here at different times and we all love the place.

What a delightful, walkable town!
What a delightful, walkable town! The colorful half-timbered buildings look like something out of a fairy tale. We didn't have time to visit the nearby wine villages, but having been to several before, we recommend them highly. We really enjoyed a visit to the Bartholdi house and museum. Every restaurant we tried was excellent.

One of the nicest things about this exquisite town is that you can find your own corner, away from the big groups, of tourists on the little tourist,trains. Yes, you’re a tourist too, but you can explore a little differently, stroll though the beautiful park outside the hotel, find brilliant tucked away historic areas, lovely restaurants with a unique flair, offering something other than the admittedly delicious flammenkuche/tarte flambée (which are well worth a try). A tour of the Route de vins (small group. Not big bus) is a highlight: the independent wineries are superb. It’s perfect for solo travel because people were so natural, welcoming and friendly.

Touristy but thoroughly enjoyable - after all we are tourists ourselves!, Great location for exploring the Alsace wine route. Some beautiful villages within easy car rides and excellent restaurants in Colmar itself.
