Donegal (0.8 miles from Donegal Airport)
Featuring garden views, Annie's Cottage On The Corner provides accommodation with a garden and a patio, around 1.1 km from Carrickfinn Beach. Fabulous location, a short walk from the airport and outstanding beaches. Lynda is an exceptional host. We flew up from Dublin to only stay one night and she very generously left eggs, bread, milk, tea and coffee for breakfast. I mentioned in a message to Lynda that it was my birthday. I was so touched to find a card and chocolate upon arrival. The house and the area is a perfect get away from the daily grind. Its character and history creates such a welcoming embrace to just unwind and connect to your soul. I can't recommend enough❤️

This family run hotel is a hidden gem for anyone who likes to feel at home straight away. The relaxed atmosphere in the place and the very friendly owner Pauline and her staff made our stay there very special. Would definitely go back when covid restrictions are lifted so that we could get to meet all the locals
The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly which made it easier to relax and enjoy. Annagry and surrounds are in the heart of Irish speaking Donegal with a variety of bars and restaurants.
The last time I stayed in Bunbeg was 12 years ago and it has become very run down with quite a few places closed but this would also be impacted by the restrictions etc due to Covid. It's fine if you want to get away from it all.
Kincasslagh is a tiny hamlet north of Dungloe. The walk to Kincasslagh Pier is relaxing and lovely. It's a nice place to stay and get away from it all, but I'd recommend having a car, as bus service is limited, and local services are minimal (one small market, and pub that's often closed).
This is a great, quiet friendly countryside village (Pub, restaurant, pizza place petrol station around the corner). The next town is a 14-minute drive with all the amenities you need. (Lidl, Aldi, Supervalu, etc.)
Although only there for a short while Bunbeg has all the ingredients of the mystic west. The sunset was spectacular over the beach. Bád Eddie (Eddies boat) on Bunbeg's Magheraclogher beach, in Gaoth Dobhair (Gweedore) is a must see. The official story is that the boat was stranded on the beach but we heard from a good source that Eddie did it deliberately. He beached the boat in order to fit a new engine but he was going through a divorce and his wife asked for her share of the boat so he never repaired it.
