I was here with my family for 2 nights and our entire stay was memorable. The owner/ manager was extremely friendly giving us insight on the places for us to visit around in Ampara. The food was exceptionally good and well prepared. The hot butter cuttlefish was a dish to die for. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Looking forward to visit here again.

This was by far the best stay we had in Sri Lanka! First of all, the location is beautiful. Away from all the crowds, this is a very unique and bit undiscovered part of Sri Lanka. But despite the quiet location, the area offers many things to do and the accessibility is very good. We traveled mainly by public transport and from Kandy there’re every hour direct buses (also with A/C) heading to Ampara. From Ampara it is easy to get a tuk tuk to the lodge. But also from the lodge they will help you with arranging transport where necessary (car/taxi/tuk tuk, etc.) and do everything they can to make sure you can travel save. And this is also what makes the Gal Oya Lake Club so special, they are super helpful. Nothing is too much for them and everything is negotiable. For example, when we were there, we’d like to climb the Monkey Mountain with a Vedda. Although this is not part of the “standard” excursions they offer, Dinesh did everything to make this possible for us. But also the area around the lodge is ideal for hiking and in the National park nearby you can make beautiful safaris! And even if you'd rather not go on excursions, there’re plenty things to do at the lodge. The massages they offer are definitely a must do. The massages you get there are absolutely not expensive and truly fantastic! In short, we stayed 3 nights in a glamping tent, but could easily have stayed longer. The staff does everything to make your stay fantastic and it’s a beautiful place to be!

Was taken both ways to boat tour at 6am. Charged $30USD for the boat tour which is extremely reasonable. The accommodation was great even though it's on main road it was not noisy at all. AC and hot shower. Bathroom clean. Was nice to have large separate living area with kettle and tea. There is a washing machine also. Really comfortable bed and long too with no wooden end. Had an amazing breakfast made by Mum which accommodated my food allergies. Was recommended to go to archeological site only 200 meters down the road which was really interesting and the trees and natural vine swing was cool too. One of the best places I have stayed. Definitely recommend

La famiglia è stata super accogliente e di grande aiuto per organizzare la visita al Gal Oya park; inoltre, ci sono stati di grande supporto nel risolvere alcuni nostri imprevisti.

Posizionato a Ampara, Charitha Rest presenta un giardino, una sala comune, una terrazza e il WiFi gratuito. I’ve rarely seen so many smiling people as in this village. Yup this is the real deal. The off the beaten track all the hipsters are talking about. And the good news. They’re not here! But you can be. Charitha runs the place. Together with his mom and dad and helped by others from the village. He has plans and damn I hope it pays off. Need anything? They’ll hook you up. Off course the boat safari. But also an afternoon hike with his friend ashanka ❤️ yes even a pedicure. The food from his mon is excellent. Like the hotel and the village: nothing fancy but damn tasty As always, everybody gets five stars
