It is a great place to go for fishing or relaxation. It is a walking city. Very much enjoyed the Fortress of the Bear. I also enjoyed visiting the Russian Bishop's House and the Russin Orthodox Church. Very informative.
Beautiful and friendly place. Restaurants were great, and there was a lot to experience. Websites of attractions were often wrong in opening times which was frustrating. We particularly liked The Beak, Mean Queen and the hotel restaurant for meals. Sitka Tours was awesome.
We have a cousin in Sitka who transported us throughout the community. That was a big advantage. She also helped us plan our visit. We loved Totem Park, the summer classical concert and the Father’s Day crab feed.
Came for our granddaughter's graduation but saw so much more. Went to the Raptor Center and the Fortress of the Bear. Wonderful places. Toured the Bishop's Palace and also walked out to Totem Park. Would have like to take a boat ride or gone fishing. Driving along the coast was beautiful.
Really cool little town! Small enough that we could walk everywhere in the downtown area. Lots of great places to eat. Sitka National Park had several walking trails and lots of totem poles. We rented a car so that we could get to other hiking trails. Beautiful view of the mountains almost everywhere you look. We went for 3 days and it was a "just right" amount of time.
Very cute Old little city. Wonderful resaturants. People friendly. Great drinks. Good shopping, better than Juneau. Loved being on the sea coast and near fishing boats, watching them go out and coming back. Watching men cleaning their catch. Go for the seacoast side. Worth the cost.
