This charming, small hotel in Potes is the perfect launch point for days spent hiking in the Picos. Back in Potes, the beautiful and ancient town offered excellent options for daytime or after dinner strolls along the river, in the small medieval streets, and down country lanes leading to farmland on the outskirts of town. It was easy to feel at home in Hosteria Picos de Europa. It has a quiet, old world ambiance and we developed a real appreciation for the wonderful woman at reception who was knowledgeable, helpful and fun to talk to. We looked forward to the breakfasts which featured a variety of hams and cheeses, fruit, and hot options. Off the dining room was a delightful small courtyard with colourful artisan tiles and a fish pond, a great place to enjoy morning coffee. Plenty of free parking is available in the town, making our return after mountain hiking easy.
