Ardlogie looks quite unassuming from the street, but once you walk thru the gate, you’re treated to a lively garden, home to chickens and pheasants (the chickens’ eggs provide you with a great breakfast), fruit trees, flowers. The home is warm, welcoming and completely unassuming—a perfect place to settle in and relax after an active day…or simple relax, read, nap and feel no pressure to do anything but “be.” (Just what we needed at the time.) The rooms are cozy and super comfortable with sweet views of the garden. And the shower is fantastic! Ardlogie is perfectly located for simple access to the restaurants, activities and facilities in Aviemore. And it’s close to many hiking trails and within driving distance to great historical sites including the Culloden Battlefield and the Clava Cairns. The breakfast menu is extensive and every meal is prepared individually. The food is superb, quite simply the best breakfasts we’ve had (and we always stay in B&Bs—not Airbnb.) I’ve saved the best for last: Kirstie and Kevin. They are five stars out of five. They’re fun, funny, friendly and the warmest people you’d be lucky enough to encounter—simply the best hosts ever. Their knowledge of the area and their joy at sharing suggestions are unparalleled. If you are lucky enough to find lodging at Ardlogie (and I suggest that as soon as you have your dates, reserve your room) you’re are in for a wonderful time.

Balavoulin is THE place to stay while you travel to or through Aviemore. Our room was beautiful, spacious, and extremely comfortable. The best part of staying here is the fact that you get the most delicious breakfast in the morning with outstanding service and it's included with your stay. And the fact that you are right upstairs from the restaurant/pub makes this place that much more special. Grab a bite and a pint on your way back before heading to bed. You cannot beat that!

The owners are kind and helpful, the breakfast was generous and made with good quality ingredients, and the room was very comfortable and filled with tasty treats that are included in the price. Nice amenities and good location, better than being in the bustle of Aviemore if you're looking for a quiet retreat.

The room was large and very nicely furnished. Bathroom huge and beautiful as well. We had a view of the yard with hens and squirrels. Breakfast was varied and tasty. The owner, who was really nice, had an adorable dog and a beautiful cat that we got to say hi to. Would highly recommend staying here.

Owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The owners were really interesting and as a result we stayed up late chatting with them and also noticed how attentive they were to the other guests’ needs. Very comfortable bed and a nice communal space to relax in with free tea and coffee. Very close to the Cairngorms and local town has some good amenities.

Mark is a very friendly and helpful host. He prepares a yummy breakfast (yogurt with fresh fruits, porridge, pancakes with maple syrup and all sorts of cooked scottish breakfast). It’s a beautiful (and quiet) guest house within walking distance to the restaurants.

Hotel was in a great location with free parking - but got very busy later in the day. Many shops & places to eat 5 minute walk away. Yeah but gets very busy so I’d recommend booking if you want to eat there Room was small but comfortable, shower was good & WiFi was working great. Room was quiet despite being over a lively pub. The breakfast was lovely with a great vegetarian option. Staff were all great. Very friendly & helpful. Especially James who called us to let us know we had left a bag behind.
