The property is in the Old city and very close to the Bazaar and all the restaurants, cafeteria and historic sites in Gjirokaster. It was really great stay at the Alsara Guesthouse. We expect it will be great after reading the reviews and seeing pictures of the breakfast and therefore we decided to stay two nights in Gijrokaster instead of one and we also recommend the other guests to stay longer in the town and at the Alsara Guesthouse. The location is great as right from the Guesthouse you enter the main streets of the Bazaar, so you are right in the center. Even though you are in the center there is no noise coming from town during the night, so we had great sleep. The rooms are very nice and clean. In the Alsara Guesthouse there is a great rooftop, which is one of the best things about this hotel. We enjoyed there a glass of wine with a beautiful view on the town and we started there our mornings with breakfast. The breakfasts are HUGE, and there are another reason to stay an extra night at the Alsara Guesthouse. Moreover, the owner is super carring and helpful, he recommend us places to visit, restaurants to eat at and helped organized a taxi with a good price. If you come to Gjirokaster you must stay at the Alsara Guesthouse, we loved it very much!

Joanna, the host, was welcoming, friendly, and very helpful with recommendations to visit the area. The video she made was very helpful to find her home. Without it, we would have had trouble finding her place. The location was great, and we enjoyed the view of the castle from her patio, where she served us a wonderful home cooked and traditional breakfast. The room worked well for us and was very quiet for sleeping. Joanna helped us park our car beside the room. Overall, we would not hesitate to recommend this cute and charming guestroom. Joanna's hospitality was heartfelt.

It was a pleasant experience. The property is few minutes walk from the historic centre. If you are coming by bus, you will need to walk uphill to reach the property, but once you are there you will not have climb anymore to see the attractions in city. Owner was really helpful, gave the all the instructions on how to reach and what to see. We were served home made Albanian breakfast which was highlight of our stay. It was delicious and we enjoyed it in the backyard among fruit trees and plants. If you are looking for place to stay in Gjirokaster just choose this one. You will not regret :)

One of the best rooms we have ever booked! We liked it so much!! Very clean and beautiful room, perfect location (near to the center). The owners very friendly and the did the best for us. We ate also dinner in the hotel's restaurant and we ate delicious and traditional albanian food!! The breakfast was full!! Our room (double deluxe) had perfect view and was perfect decorated! 🥰

The guesthouse is located in a quiet spot above Gjirokastres bazar (about 10 minutes walking) with a beautiful view upon the castle. The host is really kind and helpful, sent us detailed instructions about how to reach the place, and helped navigate with directions. The house is located on a quite steep and narrow road, and there are a couple of parking spots outside the house. The host speaks great English and communication was always fast and smooth. The room is spacious with tasteful details, cozy and comfortable, facilities and equipment seem new and everything is in perfect condition. The bed is so big and comfy, we really appreciated it! The breakfast (not included, but absolutely worth it!) is soooo delicious! Made with fresh and homemade ingredients, kept us going for the entire day! I would absolutely stay here again, I wish it was longer than 2 nights!
