Proto hostel is the first and for now the only hostel in chamba town and what an amazing job rudraksh had done in providing this kind of option for travelers and backpackers. the hostel is quite new so it looks beautiful and is well-maintained. the 6-beds dorm was cozy and had a nice view of the ravi river and the surrounding mountains. the beds are comfortable, there are lockers and even an air-conditioner. there's also a really pretty rooftop restaurant and another workspace for digital nomads and others who want to work remotely while enjoying nature. rudraksh the owner is a very special guy, kind and wise, and i had really interesting conversations with him about chamba, life and everything in between, plus he can help you with all the information you need regarding traveling in chamba valley. although the hostel is not located at the heart of the city but on its outskirts, you can easily catch a bus, take a taxi or just walk to the center so it's not a big issue. overall an amazing experience, and for me even a surprising one considering the fact you generally don't find these kind of high-end hostels in remote places like chamba

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at mountain view homestay in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh. The location is breathtakingly beautiful, surrounded by serene landscapes and offering a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The hospitality here is top-notch—the staff is incredibly warm, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. They truly make you feel at home. The highlight of my stay was the food—it was not just delicious but felt like a home-cooked meal, full of authentic flavors and love. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with beautiful surroundings, exceptional hospitality, and mouthwatering food, this homestay is the perfect choice. I can’t wait to visit again! Highly recommended!

Everything about the property was perfect. 1. Host Mr. Ashish, who is a local and native of Dalhousie, is very homely and polite, he ensured all comfort and even dropped me to the bus station in his own car. 2. The homestay is really homely, located outskirts of the city, next to a forested area, so most of the times it’s peaceful. I preferred staying inside the hotel since it helped me feel very relaxed. 3. You will get wonderful home-cooked food by the cook Mr. Sher Singh. He even prepared a wonderful fruit salad per my requirements. 4. Caretaker Jatin is always energetic to help you with any requirements. 5. The rooms and the linen are clean and well maintained. The attached washroom cum bathroom is very tidy and clean too. There is a geyser in the washroom which provides hot water in 5-10 minutes.
