Laundry facilities are available. Dinner was a large amount- three dinners was more than enough for four people. The breakfast was also large and extravagant.. keep in mind they eat whole fish for breakfast in this country ;). the village is beautiful and the beach is completely empty. The guest house was simple but really lovely, and spotlessly clean, and Keisuke made sure I had everything I needed. The sashimi set for dinner was the best I have had in Japan - fish fresh straight off the dock. It was also really relaxing to hang out downstairs in his bookshop bar. The food is delicious! The service perfect! The helpfulness is exemplary - they both picked us up and dropped us off by car at the Takeno station a few km away. Our tatami room was super clean and modern with a traditional feel. It’s located at the edge of the village and easy walking distance to the onsens, restaurants and shops. The owner welcomed us personally, gave us tips on the onsen to visit, recommended restaurants and made a reservation for us. He even drove us to the station when we left. This property had a perfect blend of service without feeling too intrusive - which is a real skill. The location is also perfect as it’s located just on the edge of this small village with everything within walking distance. For this price point, staying at Utsuroi Tsuchiya Annex is a no brainer. Family and staff running the ryokan were incredibly friendly! Before starting the check-in process, I was able to observe the tea ceremony. It felt extra special since the ceremony was performed by the owner's mother. The owner helped take many pictures for me outside of the inn and on the street!
