The hotel is well designed, the rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. There are so many little touches to make it feel you’ve arrived to stay with family or friends. Our host Irene is enthusiastic and super helpful. Offering suggestions and help for every travel question (and we had many)!! Breakfast was ample and covered all the bases as to offerings that were fresh and yummy! Our airport transfers went smoothly. Excellent drivers in both directions. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our days here and highly recommend Casa Alegria as a great base to visit the northern end of Santiago.

Tugged away from the rest of the world, Ja opened a room of her ancestor's home to guests who would like to experience what it's like to live in Cape Verdian raw country side - which includes being offline, taking cold showers with a bucket and a mug, sleeping in pin drop silence (apart from the roosters), walking in the steep hills, etc. One can go with a shared taxi until the roundabout of Sao Domingos. From there, a local can come and pick you up for 300 ESC, or you can walk (it's absolutely safe, the locals are friendly and helpful, location on the map is accurate). They can also drop you to the airport for 1500 ESC, and it just takes 30mins to reach. Ja knows how to cook for vegetarians, too. She is a witty and interesting host to talk to. I am still amazed at the purity and simplicity of this place, and hope to be back one day.

Overall: I am very satisfied with my stay in this apartment. The combination of the great location, the tidiness, and especially the host's hospitality made my experience unforgettable. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
